Just some early views on the games coming up this weekend in the SEC....

Florida @ Tennessee

Hmmm, could the game be anymore intriguing. SEC East favorite FL comes into Neyland Stadium to a surprisingly revamped Vol offense with the arrival of David Cutcliffe. So who is gonna win? Is Tennessee for real? Were they looking ahead to Florida by squeaking by Air Force?

Well, let's attempt to answer these questions. Tennessee looked mighty impressive versus Cal. But was that performance good enough to gauge the overall talent of this team? Was Tennessee playing on emotion for that game and the Air Force game was more of what to expect? These intangible questions will be answered when Florida comes calling. However, Tennessee lost two key players for the year in Haralson and the defensive back (can't remember his name). Haralson was Tenn's best pass rusher and that could be a potential problem for Tenn if they can't force Leak out of the pocket. However, Tenn's defense has enormous speed. Florida, on the other hand, has tons of OL problems and will get it's first real challenge of the year on the road at Tenn. Can they handle the pressure? Florida destroyed a descent Southern Miss team and UCF whereas Tenn has played two quality opponents and they are at home. However, Adrian Foster is questionable for Tenn. Doesn't matter, OL questions and lack of saltiness lead to Tenn taking down the Gators

FL - 17
Tenn - 24

LSU @ Auburn

Wow, what a great game to watch between two SEC juggernauts and two top 6 teams. LSU goes to the Plains to try and get a leg up on the SEC West race. LSU looked mighty impressive against Arizona and Auburn was able to shake the early season jitters to look very solid against Wash St. and Miss. St.

Not much analysis here other than it's gonna be a war. Both teams are solid with an edge to LSU in special teams. Intangibles will really be the difference in this game and Auburn has that advantage in being the home team and returning the most starters on both sides of the ball. It'll be a defensive game, but I like Auburn at home.

Auburn - 13
LSU - 10

UAB @ Georgia

UGA posted it's first shutout in 3 years against South Carolina and UAB gave Oklahoma all they could handled and then almost laid an egg against East Carolina, but this will be no pushover for the Dawgs.

With Joe T out for 6 weeks with a severly sprained ankle, Matthew Stafford will get the call to fill in. Sadly, it looks as if Joe T's career is done. Even if he comes back, Stafford will have cemented his place as the starter and have started a rythm. Stafford probably had the best 9-19, 3 INT game you can have. A true frosh enters a hostile environment and looked extremely poised. As he gains confidence, the touch will come and he is destined for great things. UAB seemed like they were looking ahead to UGA when ECU came to town, luckily, UGA doesn't have to worry about that as they have lowly Colorado coming to town the next week. In all respect, this game will be more interesting than the Colorado game. UGA is poised to head into the Tennessee showdown in Athens undefeated. UGA has definitely shown the defense is their strength and as new QB Matt Stafford becomes more comfortable, the passing game will come around to gel with the running game giving UGA a balanced attack to defend their SEC title. Pretty much, damage control is the theme in this contest. Put UAB out of this game early and use this game to tune up for the SEC slate. To much talent in this one for UAB....

UGA wins it

UGA - 31
UAB - 13

If I made any errors, let me know... thanks

i think the tigers game will be much higher scoring then that. both teams are loaded on offense. i think the difference maker will be LSU's defense being able to stop auburn more effectivly. say what you want about LSU's losses on D this year, but there's not a person alive who can logicly deny that they are one of the most solid and dependable squads in the nation i see the score being closer to 21-14, maybe closer at 21-17, with LSU taking the win.

other things to watch are:

Russel - he has looked so calm and confident in the pocket this year, like he KNEW he had all the time in the world to dump it. if he can keep that cool on the plains, LSU will roll.

Zenon and Landry - i can think of a million words to describe how these two have performed against ohh la la and arazona, but i think dominating is the most effective one. if landry is able to maintain coverage, keep an instinct for the ball, and play physically, he's gonna be the stud of the day. same goes for zenon, if he just continues the level of play he has shown the last two weeks, he will get a pick or two and will break the game.

kickers - they have been the wildcard in the last few matchups between these teams. colt davis has gotten a lot of kicks this year and i think he's gonna be dependable when needed, but auburn has one of the better in the game too, total toss up. Chris Jackson has been stellar in the clutch before, and i think is who will get the go ahead for most of the scoring oppertunities in this game simply cause of his cool. we'll see
