I missed the post game radio show , but some are saying that Croom said something about not caring what the fans think and it has blown up.

I thought Croom's job was safe for at least threw next year no matter what happened , but this is getting ugly fast. He might not last through the season with comments like that to go along with putting doughnuts on the scoreboard.

We have hadsome tough times in the past , but this might be a new low point.

Coach Croom did say that. It kinda took me by surprise also. Personally I think it's a BOLD and rash statement. In a sense, Croom is telling his boss (The fans) that he doesn't care what they think. I don't know about you Ace, this is not intended to be a flame, but Croom is looking like a real jerk that doesn't care about his job.

What do you say?

That is pretty much the way I took it. I can understand that he is frustrated and might have been just blowing off a little steam , but he is the one who stated before the season that MSU was ready to contend for a bowl game. If he wants to go out on a limb like that then he should expect some grumblings after not scoring in the first 2 games.

IMO , He owes the fans an apology. LAst year was the second best year in attendance in MSu history and the South carolina game was almost a packed house , so it isn't like the MSU fans haven't been behind him.

I really liked this guy when we hired him and I still want him to succeed , but he is losing ground with me very quickly. He hired a buddy for his OC instead of looking for the best man for the job and it is coming back to haunt him.

If he doesn't apologize to the fans , well then to be blunt He can kiss my as$ and leave tonight.

I heard Coach Crooms say that too. He better watch himself, I wouldn't get rid of him in the middle of the year. He will appologize and keep his job, at least for a while. Crooms is a good guy that has that program turning around I think. Should have scored this week. Many plays could have been interecepted. Next week vs. Tulane should be a win.

The thing that I noticed while reading the Ole Miss board and the MSU board the most was that fans on both sides keep talking about combining the schools to be competitive.
LOL!

I'll be the first coming up with a new name.
Ole Mississippi State

Like I said Ace, I'm not trying to flame you in anyway, but this Croom character is a piece of work. I'm paraphrasing of course, but telling a fan that he doesn't care what he thinks is just plain wrong no matter how you spin it.

I have a feeling that Croom won't be at MSU too much longer at this rate. If MSU loses to Tulane, he could find himself out the door that weekend and this could turn out to be very nasty. Under no circumstances do you say....

"YOU DONT CARE ABOUT THE FANS!"

Did I hear him right though? I thought I heard him say that he needed to be coaching instead of doing the call-in show. But that can't be right. If he was looking so hard for time to coach, he wouldn't have given the team 3 days off last week. I must have heard wrong because if we had 3 extra days to prepare for AU and didn't need them, then why would we need to spend extra time on Monday preparing for Tulane? Is that a contradiction or is it just me?

Frankly, I think Croom has pi$$ed in the MSU swimming pool.....

Croom may be a great football mind and may be an outstanding assistant coach or coordinator, but to be a HC is to be able to stand the white-hot spot light and deal with it. He seems to be over his head, IMHO.

Croom is dispensible; the Mississippi State fans are not. I have always admired the school and its people. They have always represented themselves and their community with dignity and class, even though their football teams were going through some hard times. Heretofore, I've thought of Croom as a hard-nosed, no-nonsense coach, and as a gentlemen. But to disrespect these fine fans is too much. I'm sure the firecroom.com site is already up in the Starkville area.

Croom wasn't being to smart with his comments, but I'm sure he was just in a very frustrated mood at that moment.

That said, I'm sure MSU will show better against some teams that are closer to thier level. MSU has a bad offense, and when you combine that with the fact that they are playing some of the best defense, it can get ugly. I've been more impressed with MSU than I have with Ole Miss or even Kentucky.

After listening to it again, I tend to agree with Coach Croom's comments. I mean if a fan complains about the play calls will they listen to the fan? Surely they wont just give the playbook to an unsatisfied fan and say hey think you can do better, well have at it. I think Miss. St. has potential, and I think Croom's is the guy to do it. The players have bought into his plan and when that happens only good things can happen. I agree with him also that his players are fighting their guts out. I mean the games I've seen, which have been both of them its true they're playing hard and nobody can deny that.

I would be a little concerned with the criticism just because everyone know thats when the AD senses that the fans aren't happy he does whatever it takes to please them. That is a bit ridiculous right there, but hey then again money is the controlling factor in EVERYTHING.

Maybe Crooms has been talking to Nolan Richardson. Next thing you know he will call the fans a bunch of redneck SOB's and tell the media that the school can buy out his contract any time they get ready.
