Settle down barners...I read something about this on another forum and thought it would be interesting to discuss. I repeat...I'm not flaming here.
If Coker struggles this year and is subsequently fired or resigns, who do you think would be a leading candidate?
Tubbs has some interesting ties to Miami. He was on the defensive staff back in the early 90s (I think). The "Jet Gate" fiasco isn't that far removed from memory, SACS continues to plague the Plains, he goes 13-0 and doesn't even get a shot a the NC, Lowder and company, etc., etc.
I'm giving props here to Tubby. He's done a lot at the barn but could take the next step as a HC at Miami. Arguably better in-state talent, much better media recognition, South Florida vs West Georgia...Tubby is known to always be looking for that next career jump. Miami would be a step up in the big scheme of things. Thoughts?

Not a chance............After all, the other day Tuberville stated that the only way he'd ever leave Auburn is in a pine box.

Any Ole Miss fans care to comment?

Auburn ain't Ole Miss! That being said if Tubs ever goes 0-13, he may just have a free pine box provided. This thread is about as rediculous as a Richt to FSU thread would be.

And Miami ain't awbarn either. Again, another steppingstone for Wingnut?
It's not as ridiculous as you might think. Time will tell. Richt didn't get backstabbed by his own employer, Richt hasn't been shutout of a NC game (he also didn't go 13-0), and he currently doesn't have academic impropriety and accreditation to worry about, which affects recruiting. He also doesn't have a history of jumping from one job to another.
It's an interesting theory regardless and perfect for the rumor forum. I didn't create it. I read about it elsewhere and spread it here.

Something like this would all depend on how angry Tubberville really is over the jet incident... and only he can really know that.
I could see it as a possibility, but Auburn seems pretty cushy for him right now unless Alabama can start winning and putting some pressure on him.

That's a good point but do you really think Tubby would turn down Miami for the barn if the job was offered? That's not a lateral move on the national scale. That's a BIG jump up IMO. $ talks and Lowder's got as deep a pocket as anybody but wasn't he behind the whole "Jet Gate?" I think the Riverboat Gambler would love to stick it to him if offered the right opportunity.
This isn't as far fetched as people would believe. I honestly think that Mr. Tuberville would leave Auburn for the Miami job. It's like the old saying; "You can forgive, but never forget."
I know I could never forget the backstabbing that Auburn did to him if I were him. What Auburn did to him was just plain WRONG.
As to what Denny was saying. Going from Auburn to Miami would be a step up. (No offense) The TV/Media exposure that Miami gets and not to mention, they're always in contention for a MNC.

lol...after the Hawgs romp Saturday, I'm not sure if some of the Barners wouldn't mind.....anyway, send Coker up here to Lexington. That's all I'm worried about.

I thought Coker might be an interesting option for LSU if they lose another game or two this year.

If we move on from Les, I hope it will be Mike Price from UTEP.

1. TT is making nearly $2.5mil/yr now and it increases $210K each year. That does not include the incentive bonuses such as $300k for winning an NC.
2. TT has taken care of his staff at AU. According to the Sporting News, AU has the highest paid asst's in the country. TT has surrounded himself with excellent asst and he needs them to be successful.
3.Tuberville’s penalty is $6 million for 2007-08, $5 million for 2009, $4 million for 2010 and $3 million for 2011. So it will cost Miami $6 million just to buy the rights to TT.
4. Miami is a terrible place to raise a family and all the coaches have kids including TT. In 92' when Dye resigned then Miami head coach Dennis Erickson lobbied heavly for the AU position b/c him and his family were miserable in Miami. Money isn't everything and that's easy to say when you are knocking down $2.5mil / yr. Ever wonder why Miami is a revolving door for coaches if it is such a great place to coach? The only school to have more coaches since 1983 is, you guessed it UA.
5. Saturday night showed any prospective coach just what a mess the program is in and what kind of character or lack there of the players possess. And you think a man that prays with his players, walks arm in arm with them into the stadium, a man who suspended one of his top recruits for 6 games for drinking is going to want any part of that mess?
6. TT may leave AU one day but it want be for the likes of Miami.
7. Grab your chin with your left hand, the back of your head with your right hand, and firmly twist and pull your head out of your a$$.
