BATON ROUGE, La. -- Running back Antonio Robinson left the LSU football team and plans to transfer to another school, coach Les Miles announced on Wednesday.

Robinson, from Winnfield, La., redshirted last year with the Tigers. He dressed, but did not play in LSU's season-opening victory over Louisiana-Lafayette.

The primary reason, I think, is because of the depth at RB; two freshmen played against UL-Lafayette (Charles Scott and Keiland Williams) and both looked extremely good. I think Antonio could not picture himself in any amount of significant rotation at LSU. Here is a little more:

In other LSU football news, redshirt freshman running back Antonio Robinson from Winnfield has quit the LSU football team. He received his release from LSU and will transfer to Grambling State or NWST, according to what I have been told. Nick Saban signed Robinson out of high school and was very high on his toughness and speed. I asked one of LSU assistant coaches about Robinson in the Spring of 2005 and was told that he was one of the hardest working players on the team and was doing very well in practice. Robinson was a two-time class 3-A All-State player.
