One week from today LSU will be playing UL-L at Tiger Stadium. LSU is a 30- to 31-point favorite to win the game and I believe that LSU will cover the spread, but I do believe the Cajuns will hang with the Tigers for two quarters. UL-L is going to be very fired up to play LSU because most, if not all, of the Louisiana players on the UL-L team dreamed of playing for LSU while playing high school football. I believe that in the second half LSU's depth and team speed will be more than UL-L can handle.

I hope that LSU is not overly confident going into the game thinking it will be a blowout. UL-L won their last five games of the season in 2005 and they believe that they are capable of pulling off an upset like UAB did in 2000 when they came into Tiger Stadium and left with a 13-10 win. LSU has played several mid size 1-A schools the last few years that UL-L is as good or better than some of them. I believe that UL-L is better than Middle Tennessee that LSU beat 30-14 in 2001, and I believe UL-L is better than Miami of Ohio that LSU beat 33-7 and Citadel, a 1-AA team that LSU beat 35-10 in 2002. The Cajuns are probably better than Western Illinois that LSU beat 35-7 in 2003, but not as good as Troy State that LSU beat 24-20 in 2004 or as Appalachian State that LSU beat 24-0 in 2005.
