Well Tyrus Thomas went pro in the draft this year, but we still got Big Baby and a couple of transfers. Any chance that we will make th Final Four again?

As long as yall keep up that defense anything is possible. Of course, UF returns a lot from their team as well and I look for UK to bounce back this year. I dont really keep up with any other conferences in roundball except the ACC, and I can tell you that Duke wont see too much of a drop off and that UNC will be HOT this year. Wait a minute....am I talking about b-ball??
I think you may be the only LSU fan with basketball on the mind with only two weeks and counting till SEC football kicks off:p

Yeah definitely right about being a little off-season. I think that LSU's defense will suffer with the loss of the Tyrant, but from what I've heard Big Baby has lost some serious weight and should be a lot more mobile this year. Like you said they picked up a couple of good transfers, but they have to replace Mitchell's leadership and late game-winning ability. I don't think Brady is the best coach, I think their run last year was more due to the awesome combo of the Tyrant and Big Baby. But who knows a Final Four run is definitely not out of the question.
Now back to the football forum!
Let's talk basketball in a few months, It's football season baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I honestly don't understand why the Tyrant went pro this year. I've heard a lot of speculation that it was because his mother needed the money desperately. Honestly, though, I thought that he would have stayed at LSU after seeing how frustrated Brandon Bass was after declaring for the NBA and recieving very little playing time in his first year. At one point, I think I remember hearing that BB had come in to talk to Big Baby and the Tyrant to try to encourage them not to declare for the NBA.
If Brandon Bass had stayed at LSU another year LSU would have been downright scary last year.

Brady has a history of stinking in the post season. Combine that w/the loss of Thomas and Mitchell....adding Tack Minor (the renegade, loose cannon) back at the starting guard spot....LSU will be good. But all that stuff combined w/no new recruits....you're not gonna be as hot as last year. I gua-ran-tee

i think lsu will have a great season this year again. minor is supposed to be very good from what ive heard and big baby will give us all the leadership and experience that we need to win. i agree though that brady seems to lack the ability to come up big in the post-season. last year's final four appearance was more a result of our talent and leadership imo. i think we will be competitive in just about every game, but i dont think we will sneak up on teams like we did to duke and texas in the tourney last year. teams will be gunnin for us every time we play. i would be happy with an elite 8 appearance.

UF returns a lot from their team as well
Actually, UF returns the starting 5...only lost 2 players off that team, Moss and Huertas...both were used very sparingly last season, although, Moss did have 9 points in the NCG. Add to that a top recruiting class, and UF looks to be primed for a repeat...
GO GATORS!!!

A Final Four expectation is always overshooting it, unless you're *maybe* Duke/UNC. Is it possible? It could be. However, I'm looking for LSU to be a bit weaker this year, where Alabama and MSU should both strengthen significantly. The race for the West will be an exciting one.
