I'd say either MSU or Bama fans. A lot of the MSU fans seem to think that the dogs of the West are gonna be the surprise team of the SEC this year. They should be alright defensively but as far as I know they dont have any offensive weapons at all...and when going up against SEC defenses you have to have some firepower on offense.
I say Bama fans because a lot seem to think there will be no drop off from last year. I'll be the first to admit that Bama surprised the hell outta me last year, but I see them losing 3 or more games this season(which, apparently, their fans dont see happening).
The other fans seem to be pretty realistic as far as what their records will be at the end of the season.

lol. most of the bama fans realize there is gonna be a learning curve for this season. what bothers us most is that everybody expects us to drop off the planet even though we did so well last year. here's a news flash. the seniors didn't play every snap of every game on defense. will there be a drop on defense? probably, but not as extreme as our SEC brethren would like to see.
but to answer the question on the first post. seems like most of the MSU fans are the ones drinking the koolaid the most.

If what I predict comes true, I look like a genius and all of you cock fans look like a bunch or morons. However, if SC lucks up and beats us all I then look like is a homer. I'll take that insult if you want to throw it my way anyday, because you have to be one to cheer for a team with the lack of tradition that State has.

I have to go with the bammers over MSU. MSU is the little skinny kid that punches the bigger kids in the arm and runs behind the teacher before you can turn around. I don't even read their smack unless it is overly comical. The bammers are worse because they actually believe the crap they say.

what msu fans are claiming tradition? don't make stuff up. sorry if most of our fans think this is the best team we've had in several years (not hard to do). i didn't know we weren't allowed to field a good team. With that said, our schedule is still not conducive to many wins, so even though we will be better this year, our record may not accurately reflect how much better we really are. We won't be a top 25 team by any stretch of the imagination, but we won't be a cakewalk either. The SC fans don't give us any respect, and if they do happen to lose to us, it will be hard for them to post a message on here for a while.
BTW: HMSU - you need to calm down, you say some ignorant things. You're one of the ones just begging for these types of threads to be posted. Saying SC will have to luck up to beat us makes me wonder where I can get some of what you're smoking.

He is! Read HMSUDAWGS previous posts. He's been bragging on how MSU was gonna stomp the snot outta USC and such and that just isn't the case. I personally have tried to reason with the boy and tell him that winning takes time and MSU is not there and all he does is throw it in my face and implies that I don't know what I'm talking about.

There's noting wrong with that Mark, but be reasonable. Do you really feel that MSU is going to beat USC by at least 10 points? There's nothing wrong with cheering on your team, but don't make rash comments like HMSU has. See below....

You are putting words in his mouth.
Really? Did you look at his previous posts in other threads? Have a look see.
LSUisLife, all I was stating was that SC has no reason to be predicting a 8 or 9 win season this year. I still think they will be lucky to win 6 or 7. As for State it wasn't that long ago when we were one of the top teams in the West.
Alabama has no right to call any other team a middle of the pack team after having your asses handed to you, (how many years in a row now?), by the top teams in the West, Auburn and LSU. And PC is right, Ark. will pass you this year and for the next few years.
If what I predict comes true, I look like a genius and all of you cock fans look like a bunch or morons. However, if SC lucks up and beats us all I then look like is a homer.
Dear Dr. Pepper,

Don't be shy, be sure to bring all of your other little friends with you. There will be plenty to go around.

Brice where did you read the post that stated we were a few years away from being top of the West?

Most of the Bama fans that I have seen think we will be in the 9-3 8-4 range. I don't know where some of you people get the idea that we think we will be great this year, but we can be better than most people think.
All schools have delusional fans.

I'm not going to post every single one of his posts here. That was just a taste of the garbage coming outta his mouth. With everything said, he all BUT eluded to that MSU is/was a dominant force in the SEC and that everyone else was lower tier and that simply aint the case.
MSU had it's heydays in the 90's. That much is certain, but to think that after winning 6 games in two years that you're gonna be barn burners is crazy.
As for him putting down Alabama, he should just keep his mouth shut. Granted, I hate it when Tider's keep talking about what happened 20+ years ago, but dang it, that boy (HMSU) needs to think before speaking. Alabama's trophy case is probably the size of the local Wal-Mart in Starkville.
As for us USC fans eating crow, we won't start this year. If anyone should be eating it, it's him. USC is on a 3-game winning streak against MSU and if he doesn't wanna look like a raving psychatric patient, then he should chew HIS crow and chew with his mouth closed.

August 31st should be a great game betweetn two SEC teams. It will be great to watch. On the one hand, you have a stellar coach, Darth Visor, who is always fun to watch in the heat of action. On the other hand, you have a Crooms who is pretty much in his do-or-die year and with some of the best talent he's had, especially on defense.
It boils down to excellent football intrigue for all of us.

Sorry Geaux, but I don't see it as a "great game." The only thing great about it is it's the first game. Other than that, I think it's either going to be a blow-out, or else we're going to see that we suck. If we DON'T suck, then we should beat MSU handily. IF, IF, IF, MSU were to win, then that only means that we've really got it bad. Which I just don't see. Not this year. MSU will come out with passion and alot of effort that will fade, hopefully very quickly, as our team continues to score. If it's close, then even if we win it, I'll be dissapointed. That's not saying that we have tradition or history or skeletons that can talk, it just means that we SHOULD be alot better than MSU, THIS year. Not every year and not in the past, just THIS year.

What you're saying is very true, but a win is a win. Don't forget, MSU embarrassed Florida quite badly not too long ago. An emotional high can do wonders for a football team. So, as long as you win, be proud. They could be very difficult. But, on the side of reality, their D should not be able to contain the WRs that Darth Visor will throw at them (and I'm sure WRs dominate his game plan). Too, you're looking at a matchup between Crooms, arguably the worst coach in the SEC, against Spurs, arguable the best coach in the SEC.

We'll be happy for a win, but we aren't looking at MSU (this year) as a barometer of our season. It's kinda like LSU beating SC in the first game. If it was close, you'd be worried. If you lost, you'd be very worried. That's the way I look at it. There certainly aren't any gimme's in the SEC but we're hoping to be better than last year. Last year, we'd still have expected to beat MSU. No offense to MSU, they're just having a tough stretch. When we were 0-21, we certainly wouldn't have expected to beat MSU. It's not about superiority of programs, I'm talking about NOW.

IF, and it's a big if, Ainge plays as well as he did as a freshman, UT with super-back Arian Foster, and a D that is always there should win the SEC. UT almost always has more talent than any other SEC team year in and year out, and that is born out by UT having the 2nd most number of players on NFL rosters last year (http://www.secsports.com/index.php?s=&url_channel_id=2&url_article_id=6307&change_well_id=2) save Florida (tied) and FSU.
Last year, UT was ranked too high, but this year, we are ranked way, way too low and will thrive with less expectations than we usually face. Couple that with getting Cutcliffe back, and a desire to prove ourselves after a complete disaster last year, and UT will be a force to be reckoned with.
It wasn't that long ago that UT dominated everyone in the SEC except for Florida, and I expect that to return very shortly.

The game has changed since UT's dominance. Everyone has talent. There's also a difference in college talent and future NFL talent. You can be a superstar in college and never play a snap of pro ball. Coaching and game planning is much more important now. You can't just hit the field and say "hey we have more talent so we automatically win" Thats what gets you beat by Vandy and almost UAB.
Schaeffer did run himself off, y'all are right. Best thing for tennessee to do is run the mess out of the ball, don't turn it over, play field position, ride the defense and throw maybe 20 times a game. Tennesse didn't run the ball well last year, this year will be different. Cutcliff better not go away from his guns. Ainge is a knife in a gun fight. JMO

There were also a couple of guys by the names of Andy Kelly and Heath Shuler who Cut raised into fine QBs. ...and if you guys can remember back far enough, you might recall just how horrible Manning and Martin looked in their early starts.....and more importantly how Cut managed the attack around their shortcomings to give the team their best chance of winning anyway.

JMO
On this point I agree wholeheartedly with what Cut should do - and I think he will, until Ainge makes strides and then adjust accordingly. The only part I differ with on a little is TN actually had a decent running game ( other than fumbling), but Sanders was hell bent to pass deep and often.
and we jumped offsides on a regular basis and Ainge took delay of games, and blah blah blah...
We actually should have done last year exactly as you outlined above, regardless of who the QB was. Of course I'm an old RB, so grind it out and play good D has always been my preferred choice of operation

Tennesse was at the bottom of the league in rushing, only gaining 1400 yards last season, this year the should improve that number by atleast 50%. Heath Shuler was a fine QB, you're right about that

But our average per carry was middle of the pack.
...and Andy Kelly , though certainly not the talent of the others, was VERY WELL COACHED, made few mistakes, great decisions, and played within his limits. BTW, he holds about every Arena Football record as a QB, now.
