Former LSU star Tyrus Thomas signed a four-year contract with the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday. Thomas, 19, will make $5.2 million per year for the first two years of the contract, which are guaranteed. A 6-foot-9, 220-pound forward, Thomas was selected by Portland with the fourth pick of the 2006 NBA Draft and then traded to the Bulls. Thomas made the move to professional basketball after just one season at LSU. Thomas led the Bulls summer team with 16.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots per game. The McKinley High graduate started all five games and played just more than 27 minutes a game.
