Florida has picked up 3 committements from players attending FNL...brings total to 14 commits...
Joe Haden, QB/WR, Maryland's top prospect, chose UF on Sunday...this guy is a gifted player....6' 200#, 4.34 40 time, 400# bench, he is projected as an athlete, however, WR, PR, and KR and maybe even a little RB seem to fit his style of play...great out-of-state pickup for the GATORS!!!!
Linval "The Machine" Joseph, DL/OL, 6'6" 310# monster committed on Saturday....this guy looks like a "Bull"...he has hardly any body fat...will probably get first look at OL...but with his speed and size, may end up on the DL.
Chas Henry, Punter/PK, out of Dallas, GA.....several have him ranked as the top punter in the Nation....averaged 49.9 yrds per punt while at FNL and kicked several FG beyond 50 yrds. Committed on Saturday as well.
That's it for now....I'm hearing there were several possible "silents"...and all the kids seemed to have a great time.
Go Gators!!!!

Haven't heard anything else on Garcia...I know he had a great time at FNL and spent a lot of time with Meyer...UF has "cooled down" on recruiting him because of all of the talk about him locked for USC...maybe he wanted to let the coaches know that he was still "available"...he was told that he didn't need to come and came anyway....but, honestly, I don't think it really changes things. I would love to get him, he fits our system perfectly, but if you were a stud QB...would you want to go somewhere and be a second string QB for 3 years? All of the top tier QBs seem to be afraid to come in and compete with Tebow...who knows, maybe he could beat out Tebow for the job.....Now, if Garcia wanted to RS...that would be different...but I don't get that vibe from him...I still believe he ends up at USC.
Newton received a lot of attention this weekend...he seems like a guy that's willing to come in and compete for the job...we'll see.

USC wants Newton as a TE, and he is not willing to play the position, so we aren't going after him very hard anymore. From the article, it sounds as though he may be a solid QB. He could be a sleeper in this class if y'all end up with him.

He's like 6'6" and built like a TE...he has an absolute cannon for an arm...one of his "downfalls" was considered his accuracy...but from what I've heard, he more than held his own vs Garcia...we need a another QB in this class...doesn't even have to be a top guy....Newton would more than fill the void.

I don't know how talented USC's "other" QBs are, but Garcia is the real deal. He could come in and be Mitchell's backup next year....he would be the "highest rated" QB on your roster...if he beats out Smelley and Co...which is certainly likely, he sits for one year and starts as a Soph...
It's definitely a better situation for him at USC...and he can make all the throws SOS requires. I think he really likes UF...he just knows his best chance at PT is at USC.

I dont think so. We have QB's but I wouldnt trust any of them maybe except Smelley and he's a freshmen. It would be perfect for Garcia to come in. He is something that USC needs and he needs us in a way. We are his best oppourtunity for playing time like gator said. If anyone other than Blake ends the season at QB, I'd look for Garcia to come in next year(if he signs with us), and possibily become the backup. If its Thompson or whoever else, I say Garcia might be even a starter by the end of his freshmen year. He is the real deal. While Garcia is here( again if he signs) we could be serious contendors in th east. He can make all the throws and he actually reads the entire field unlike Blake. Garcia will not ride the bench for more than a year, he probably RS, and he will certainly not transfer. If he comes in I'd look for Thompson to transfer.

Garcia, as everyone is saying, is the real deal. He's got a lot of talent, and his mechanics aren't even that great. Wait until he gets some coaching from either Meyer or Spurrier. He's going to compete regardless of where he ends up.

I too was worried about his accuracy issues, but from what friend told me he said he threw great. . .especially on the move.
I wanted Garcia because I thought he fit the offense the best and because he is an in-state kid. After seeing Newton, the kid is Vince Young-like(not saying he is VY, but is similar physically/talent-wise) and would fit the offense better than Garcia.
Here is some video to form your own opinion.

Yea...I've pretty much conceded Garcia to USCE...heck, if he's scared to compete with Tebow, we're better off without him....although, he'll be scary in SOS's offense.
Read an article on Newton today, his father says he isn't even looking at the depth chart...he wants to compete...that's the kinda kid we need. Besides, from what I hear, Meyer is gonna call both Garcia and Newton, tell them whoever commits first, gets the lone QB spot. Hopefully, Newton will go ahead and pull the trigger. He would actually be better for us in the long run because he has the size and speed to play WR. We should get another stud QB next season, allowing us to move Newton to WR and get him on the field.

If we land Newton this season and get DC Jefferson next year. . .look out!
:yay:
Jefferson is more like Daunte Culpepper-huge kid, can run, but not a blazer with a big arm.
Obviously these are Sophmore clips, but he has improved already from these. He was at FNL and the coaches were all over him.

Garcia has already said in so many words that Tebow's arrival has affected his decision on UF.
I agree; I think he's all USCE, and '07 will be our Elite 11 sign.

i wouldn't mark it down yet....we swayed Marcus Tillman from LSU in 06 a week before signing day.

Unless you plan on hiring SOS away from USCE, then this is a done deal.
