This class looks like it could be even better than '05!!!
These guys are amazing recruiters! Who would have thought Meyer could flip the twins?! I know most of it was probably Rainey (and Black, too), but I just hope the verbals stick.
You know there is weeping and gnashing of teeth in Tallahassee this week.
I love it!!!!
:D

The Pouncey Twins will be early enrollees...as will a few others.....this is good news for the Gators because we can count them against last year's class....since Robinson will be going to the MLB...that leaves us with the potential to sign 30-31 players next Feb....that is if we can get 6 early enrollees...which is looking good right now.
GO GATORS!!!!!!!!

Players who enroll early still count against the class that year. If someone enrolls in January 2007, then they still count on the 2007 recruiting class that February. Plus, you can sign however many players you want, but you can only bring in 25 on scholarship per class.
I'm not trying to rain on your parade because I think Meyer is doing a heckuva job bringing in this talent. It's absolutely amazing to watch what he is doing on the recruiting front. I just wanted to point that stuff out.

Actually, I'm quite sure they don't. They count for the previous class, assuming you have room for them within the schollie limits for that year, even though they are listed on Rivals' list (and count toward the point system) for that year.
We did the same thing with Tebow and a bunch of others in this last class.

Nope...you're wrong. An early enrollee counts against the previous class...if you undersigned that year...case in point...UF signed 18 in Meyer's first year, that leaves 7 available for the next if you have early enrollees...this past class, we signed 27...had 4 early enrollees...so, technically, we didn't sign but 23 for '06...the 4 early erollers counted against the previous class...leaving 2 available for next year...also, D. Robinson was drafted by MLB and will not be attending UF...therefore we can carry over "3" players for this coming class as long as they are early enrollees....plus, there's some other "loop-hole" that is used...not sure of the details..has something to do with amount of total scholly players...can have 85...UF currently has 77...anyway, it's confusing but it's the rules.

Ahh, I didn't realize y'all undersigned one year. I was not aware of that rule. I'll have to clarify on that to make sure it's the case. Thanks for clearing it up.

Okay, I just talked to a guy with rivals.com. You can "count back", as he called it, but you can only count back 5 guys in a year. So, y'all were right. Good call.

I wasn't aware of the 5 player limit. How old is this rule? I can never remember Spurs using it...of course, he never really cared about "early" enrollees...I know Grossman was one.

I have no clue how old the rule is. Heck, I had never even heard that you could count back.

I had heard of the rule a few seasons ago...but I didn't realize how advantagious it could be until Meyer came to UF...he only signed 18 players his first year...granted he only had a month to sign them, but still, there were players available, but he stated that he didn't want to take any chances and he could use the "left-over" schollies for early enrollees the next year. Worked out great for us...this season, we have room for about 28.
