I like your defense. They are going to be tough on everyone. I still have questions about your offense. DisturbinUrban is proving to be a better salesman than coach. He's evidently got a lot of people believing in the Gators for 2006... but that's the same fanfare with which he began 2005 in Gainesville. We'll see...

Wow, the fact that you can rank a team #1 when they have this run of games in their schedule is laughable:
Saturday, Sept. 30 Purdue South Bend, IN 2:30 p.m. EDT
Saturday, Oct. 7 Stanford South Bend, IN 2:30 p.m. EDT
Saturday, Oct. 21 UCLA South Bend, IN 2:30 p.m. EDT
Saturday, Oct. 28 at Navy Baltimore, MD TBA
Saturday, Nov. 4 North Carolina South Bend, IN 2:30 p.m. EDT
Saturday, Nov. 11 at Air Force Colorado Springs, CO TBA
Saturday, Nov. 18 Army South Bend, IN 2:30 p.m. EDT
UCLA lost at least their 2 biggest offensive threats this offseason.
The Irish do have to play teams like Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Georgia Tech, and Southern Cal. However, wasn't Auburn's patsy schedule in 2004 one reason why they didn't make it to the championship game? There is no way Notre Dame should be number 1 based on their schedule.

He knows what he has now, the players know the system, and the staff knows what the SEC is all about after going through a season first hand. Meyer and Mullen said it themselves: year one was installation. Only now has Leak been able to learn the offense well enough--and with enough intricacy--where he can read the defense based on the play and get us into a good look/mismatch. Last year, whatever was called, Leak ran. He couldn't do anything else.
Now, I'm not saying we're going to hang 50 on people each week, but the offense in year two is going to be much improved. That said, it won't have the explosiveness that Meyer's offense normally has until Tebow has the controls. Once Tebow is throwing to Harvin, Williams, Robinson, Cooper, and the others, I think the SEC is in big trouble.

These preseason polls are BS. They look great and give people things to talk about over the Summer but, they don't mean squat. These guys don't even put UT in their top 25, so, that shows they did not put a lot of thought into it. The only thing that does mean squat from this point on is what happens on field starting 9/2.

I don't know, geechee...I agree that UT can't go anywhere but up...but some of my friends, that are Vols, seem to think that 6-5...7-4 is very possible for them this year...this is strictly what I heard...I have no idea...I surely do not follow them closely.

I agree, I think our offense will pick up where they left off last year with f$u and Iowa...definitely be more productive, but, as you stated, we will not see the "full effect" until a QB that can run, such as Tebow, gets on the field.

Hunter, these are supposedly "power ratings". UT has some of the very best talent in the country on that team. On paper, they are a very "powerful" team and these "power ratings" are only based on paper since 0 games have been played.

You think the media wants to see an SEC national champion? Thats just the system. As far as the BCS is concerned its all about Notre Dame, USCal, and then you have everybody else which is not as important. I don't really understand. Notre Dame has great tradition but so does Alabama, Michigan, Nebraska, and many more who wouldn't ever be considered a #1 in anybody's book until they proved it. The Ohio St. game proved that ND could never play with the big boys. If they do manage to get their free ticket to the Fiesta Bowl then who ever is waiting will rip them a new one. All we need is more Protestant writers and then this whole Notre Dame problem would be fixed!

Yes it was! I was shocked by the outcomes of all of those games. I liked your chances of beating scUM though. Their offense wasn't good, especially their OL. But. . .I was surprised by the score, you guys just ran them over.
UGA beats up on you guys, but then doesn't show up in the first quarter against WVU. Just makes one shake their head.

Actually, I was very proud of that comeback try against WVU. They could have thrown in the towel just like Miami did but they fought back.

You guys choking against isn't new though.
But the Sugar Bowl was a good game, you guys just couldn't get that last stop you needed to take the lead. I knew Rodriguez was going to run that fake punt when I saw Richt's alignment against WVU's alignment. WVU's defense was done and he knew they wouldn't win if he gave you the ball back.
Still though, you are SEC Champs(Damn, do I miss that) and had a great season.

Mark Richt should've held a team meeting after seeing that game. I believe, Georgia saw that game and took WVU lightly and thats why they lost. As for Miami, I don't know if it was problems with the assistants as much if it's coker not being a good HC.

He was quite impressive. WVU is in the Big East however, they probably only played a couple of teams in the ACC last season.

The meltdown in the second half was so bad that I wanted to geaux down on the field and coach the defense. Everyone at LSU knew that Clausen couldn't throw the long ball... everyone except Bo Pelini, our DC. They kept giving him the short pass and Clausen kept completing them, one after another. Dude, I was so frustrated that I could have kicked Pelini's fanny all the way to Knoxville!

You're right, and I botched that one. Meant to put Big East instead of ACC. WVU only played two ACC teams, Maryland and VT, and Slaton wasn't even playing in games until halfway through the VT game (the 5th game of the season.)

Pelini redeemed himself as the season went on. He's no Nick Saban or Will Muschamp, but he ain't bad. We should be pretty solid this year on D, especially our defensive secondary. And we have some real horses on the DL; untested in big-time SEC combat, but horses non-the-less. I wouldn't be surprised to see them develop into a really good front four.

I keep tellin' ya, Geaux: Pelini is an OK coach, at best. Unless you use an offense that plays right into his defensive wheelhouse (4-3 cover-2), he's a poor-to-marginal DC. And with more SEC teams going to the spread with mobile QBs (the attack Bo hates), things are just going to get more difficult for him.
