Looking for the SEC's top program? Stop looking. This is it.

But Mark Richt might need one of his best coaching jobs yet for Georgia to repeat as SEC champ. Don't bet against him. Now, someone have Ray Goff go get Uga a bone.

Yeah, it's hard to fathom the Bulldogs didn't dominate during the Goof, er, I mean Goff era. Ditto the Jim Donnan days (or was it "daze"?). This program has too much of everything not to be an elite program each year. But that's yesterday. Let's focus on today, which is pretty darn good.

It's time to slip on your silver britches and hunker down. (I'm not sure what "hunker down" means, and I'm not sure I want to know. But go ahead and have at it. It must be OK.)

Oh, you know Richt has a pair of silver britches. He has to. In fact, I bet he has several pairs. And I'm sure no one "hunkers" better than Richt. Can't be. Look, the guy has won more games between the hedges in his first five seasons (52) than any Georgia coach. That's right. More than Mr. Bulldog himself: Vince Dooley. Better yet, Richt has led the Dawgs to a pair of SEC titles.

That's gotta make Uga wag his stubby little tail.

The only blemish on Richt's behind? Freaking Florida. Richt is 1-4 vs. dem danged Gators.

But, I won't hold that against him. And I won't even doubt Richt's ability to replace quarterback D.J. Shockley, rebuild the offensive line and re-tool the defense. No, no, no. You see, I'm a Richt believer. And so are all of my SN buddies. That's why we have the Bulldogs ranked No. 12 in our preseason poll, finishing 10-2 overall and 6-2 in the SEC.

Go ahead and bark a few times, Uga. Howl, growl and scratch where it itches, too. Thata boy!

Georgia has three standout running backs, a star pass rusher in Quentin Moses, a trio of promising linebackers, and a burgeoning collection of pass catchers. The Dawgs also have a favorable schedule. The toughest tests? At South Carolina, vs. Tennessee and at Auburn. Oh, and the "World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party."

Uga will be there. And so will the SEC's best coach and best program. The only questions: Will Georgia win, and how far can Richt take the Dawgs? It's gonna be fun watching.
