Bryan Waggener (6-4, 226) had a solid freshman season for the Owls, throwing for 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns for a 60.8 completion percentage. Those numbers made him one of the top west coast prospects in the juco ranks.

"I have been talking to Coach Mullen, the Florida offensive coordinator for about the last month," said Waggener. "He set up a visit to come and to visit me at 2 o'clock yesterday. When I was in the weight room he went to watch film with my coach. After that he contacted me on the phone and said I had a scholarship offer."

Florida expects to sign 2 QBs...it'll be tough to get a "top" QB to come to UF this year with Tebow returning...signing a JUCO will hopefully help...putting a little space between the incoming guys.

I think this is great news for SC fans. I think this gives us an even better shot at getting Garcia. Is this JC coming in this year or next?

Honestly, I don't think so. This kid is pure roster filler in case we have injury problems at QB this year. A top-flight HS QB won't be afraid of competition at the next level, especially competition from a kid who only has two years to play.

Waggener will waste next year riding the pine behind Leak and Tebow, while Garcia, or Gray, or whoever signs with us, would be redshirting. The year after that ('07) will be a clear battle for the #1 spot with TT--a battle Waggener will lose--and a struggle for the #2 spot with the incoming RS frosh, who will likely get the game reps unless there's a huge discrepancy in talent/readiness or injury. It's basically the same formula the Trojans have been using for years (Palmer, Leinart, Booty, Sanchez, etc.), so I don't forsee any problems.

Then again, this kid could be the next big thing flying under the radar. So, either way, it's a win-win for us.

Also, I've been watching film on Tyrod Taylor (since we made his top-5 list), and this kid is the real deal. So, if for some reason we lost Garcia, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

There are plenty of QBs to go around in this class.

GN is right...UF needed a JUCO QB to fill the roster...and because he'll only have a couple of years of eligibility, it spaces the QBs out, therefore, UF should be able to get a top QB for the upcoming class. I'm not sure who it'll be, we have 5-6 at the top of our board at this time...as I said earlier, it'll be hard to sign a guy that wants to come in and contribute right away, especially after the performance Tebow had in the Spring Game....the only thing keeping him from jumping Leak is experience.

BTW, Waggener will not be in the upcoming class...he will be an early enrollee for the 2007 class...so it'll be just him, Tebow and whoever we sign as UF's QBs.

Agree, Waggener is our insurance in case Tebow gets injured during the 07 season, and we can redshirt a HS QB.

JMHO, but the HS QBs I would take and we are in on are: Garcia, Gray, Kinne, and Taylor.

I like Mann form GC, but he would be a Plan B.
