What's the prognosis for Ala-buma this year?
Here's my take... defeats in red:
Sep 02 Hawaii
Sep 09 Vanderbilt
Sep 16 Louisiana-Monroe
Sep 23 at Arkansas (McFadden runs through Joe Kines D at will)
Sep 30 at Florida (Sweet revenge... Gators maul Buma)
Oct 07 Duke
Oct 14 Ole Miss
Oct 21 at Tennessee (Vols kick Buma up & down to tune of Rocky Top)
Oct 28 Florida International
Nov 04 Mississippi State
Nov 11 at LSU (Tigers rip Buma from one end of Death Valley to the other)
Nov 18 Auburn (An elephant slaughtering at Bryant-Dummy)
7-5 Then Buma wins a bowl against a non-SEC opponent. Shula on thin ice.

That looks good Geaux except the Thumb will surface in Turdtown, not on the Plains.

that's great geaux, how'd your prediction of Bama last year turn out?
in that case, i think i'll stick with people closer to the program to better hypothesize the upcoming season.
btw my early early early predictions that may/will change in the next few months - worst case 7-5, best case 10-2, but i'll probably say 9-3 cause we may be climbing back, but we're not there yet. with all that said, 8-4 season to be expected :p

a lot of Bama fans expect back to back 10 win seasons. i just can't see it. brutal road schedule, breaking in a new QB, and i'm still not sold on our OL until i see them come out for a full game.
of course, if i'm wrong, i'll humbly say i'm wrong and i'm a pessimist at heart. i find if you're pessimistic, you get disappointed less and less

Haven't you already done this?
Anyway, no team in this universe is capable of "running through us at will." We won't lose to Arkansas. We will match UT step for step this season so expect #2. As for LSU and Auburn...we'll just have to see. I'll say this though...neither one will "rip" us apart. Auburn can't do it plus LSU is gonna have at least as much trouble as they did last year with us.

You didn't mention Florida. I kinda think they'll be ready for you guys.
Also, McFadden and the Hogs will sorely test your defense.
The Vols are a mystery, but I suspect they'll have a few surprises for you when you come calling.
I still think that both LSU and Auburn are going to do a pretty good job on you.

I don't expect the Hogs to have enough of a passing game by the Alabama game to keep the box unstacked against the run.

When I have the Hogs ever had enough of a passing game? Clint Stoerner's days? They still win running against 9 in the box.

I disagree Matt, by the time we play yal we will have had an opportunity to fine tune the passing game with Utah State and Vandy. Even if we still don't have an established quarterback just by adding Damian Williams to the receiver core will open Marcus Monk up from double coverage. Regardless we will still rush for over 200 yards against you guys even if we still don't have a passing game. I don't know if that will be enough to win, but I definately like our chances this year. I agree with your picks geux for bama this season with the exceptions of Hawaii and Ole Miss. Hawaii is going to have a pretty good team this year. They have four players named pre-season all WAC including their quarterback who was the WAC offensive player of the year last year not to mention that is a long, horrible, flight over there. Add in a five hour time difference and I like their chances this year. With the addition of Schaffer Ole Miss is my sleeper next season. I think Orgeron will have them ready and they will have at least one major upset against an SEC team. I'm not saying they will beat yal, but I think it would be stupid for any team this year to overlook them. I see bama at 6-6 IMO.

:scared:
I'm heading for cover. This kind of prediction for the Tide will bring out the Bama fans in droves. Be ready, goallthewayua.......
By the way, my early prediction for Bama is 8 and 4, with probable losses to Florida, Auburn and LSU. Toss up games are Tennessee and Arkansas with Bama taking one of them (maybe both) to go 8-4 at worst. However, since my son is going to Bama next year (as an incoming Freshman), I'll be pulling for them in every game, unless of course a miracle happens and they should go up against my Gamecocks in the SEC Championship Game. ;)

Vandy and Utah State will give you a little fine tuning, our defense will have some fine tuning by then as well... along with our young quarterback. You guys definitely have a better chance than in previous years... but I don't see Bama having a horrible year in 2006. 2007 will be a battle and a half though.
I've also said that Hawaii could be an early upset, but it will also be a good learning experience for our secondary. Lots of passing to defend against. From reading your post though it sounds like you think we're heading to Hawaii... they're coming to Bryant Denny. So all that horrible flying experience/time difference will be on them.
Ole Miss (same with Miss St.) plays Alabama hard every single season, and it will likely provide some scares.
I see Bama at best 10-2 again, at worst 8-4... probably evening out between the two.

okay your right, yal are playing Hawaii at home this year so take out all the time difference and jet lag comments, but still should be a tough game.

I may be slightly biased, but yes, I believe I have a pretty smart son. Two of them, in fact.
He's not a BIG college football fan, but he did tell me he plans on going to all the Bama home games. I expect once he gets to school there, he'll become more of a football fan. It'd be hard not to.
We go to Bama days for orientation, classes (sign up), etc. on June 1st and 2nd.
