FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Razorback defensive end Zach Snider is transferring to Tulsa to be near his ailing father, he said Thursday.
"Arkansas was a great experience. I won't forget it, forever," the sophomore said. "It's SEC football. But there are more important things in life, and I want to be close to my dad right now."
Snider's father, Greg, is suffering from cancer. The family lives at Jenks, Okla., a suburb of Tulsa.
Arkansas coach Houston Nutt said the Razorback coaches and team understand Snider's situation.
"It's an emotional time for him," Nutt said.
Snider redshirted his true freshman year at Arkansas, and played as a backup end and on special teams last season, seeing action in 10 games. At Tulsa, he would have to sit out a season before he can play unless the NCAA grants a rule waiver because of the reason for his transfer.
