What do you think. Look on the second page at the bottom for "Others"

Blake Mitchell's on that list. That's a bold mention. While I think he's going to be an above average SEC QB I'm not so sure about Heisman contender. I hope so. I just doubt it.

Im suprised Mitchell is on that list and Sidney is not. if anyone on our team deserves some heismen hype it is Sidney not Blake.

No way does Blake even deserve to be in the same breath as the word as Heisman. This kid was just plain ok last year. Bordering on not very good. If it werent for Rice, he probably wouldnt have half the completions he had last year. Rice is a great player and is great at making a below average QB look average.

Wow I'm tired of the whole thing just being a QB/RB race. When's the last time, say a WR has won the Heisman? Better yet, the last time a defensive player has won it?

I hope they're right, but I have to agree with hmsdawgs. Mitchell, IMO, just isn't star QB material. Rice, et.al. made him look respectable last year, but he doesn't seem hungry enough to rise to the level of exceptional. I haven't seen anything in spring practice to indicate he's much different than last year.

Charles Woodson CB Michigan 1997 last defensive player to win it...

Desmond Howard WR Michigan 1991 last WR to win it.

John David Booty is ahead of Kenny Irons? Are you kidding me? Booty hasnt even taken a snap under center in college, he is the one that shouldnt be on the list. I would put Blake Mitchell above Booty at this point. And Arian Foster?? sure he looked decent last year but he shouldnt be on there either. Put like Sidney Rice on there and James Davis(RB Clemson) on there also.

Take the top 5 or 6 and forget about the rest. Media will decide the Heisman. I think Corey Boyd in Spurrier's system will be a force. If Mitchell last year was okay, then this year he will be very good. Sidney will be Sidney. A better group of recievers will cut down on his recieptions, not to mention his reputation will bring him a lot of doubles. I only see this as a plus for Mitchell. When he got into trouble he was forceing the ball to Rice when he was double teamed.

Hopefully, Mitchell has learned to look off the recievers before throwing to them this coming year...

Last year, he stared at his primary target from the snap on.......

If he doesn't improve, we actually have QB depth, we can yank him, last year he was the only QB.....

Yeah, but isn't it great to see his name listed?! It's a tribute to Spurrier and what he's been able to accomplish in such a short period of time...in having us listed as a possible player.

Why are you guys bashing blake so badly? Yes, I totally agree his name should not have been listed. However, it sounds as though some of u guys are making it out like he is one of the worst QBs to come through USC in the past 15 years, when I truly believe he is the best thing we've had since Tanneyhill. I am not saying he is the best thing that has ever happened to us, but come on, he was practically a freshman last year.

He was a freshman, b/c he had to learn a system that was 40 years ahead of the one being run prior. These message board heros will shut their mouth next season when Blake flirts with 3,000 yds, 25 TDs, and a 63-66 completion percentage, their big men of the internet.....

Woodson was an incredible athlete. He played everything. He didn't win the Heisman because he was a great defensive back (though he was) he won it because of those kick returns and his receptions at WR.

Booty did make it into the game vs. Arkansas this past year. Sad to say, I believe he drove USC down the field for a TD in his first series.

You're right, I will. I'll be surprised if he's starting at the end of the season. I've gone on record saying that he had a tough time not having anyone to give him a 4 down break to confer with Spurrier to make adjustments. But you have to admit, he didn't show improvement as the season progressed. That's been my main concern. He just didn't seem to learn as fast as the defensive coordinators were able to figure him out. Anything can happen, but I'm happy we have some potential backups to nudge his progress. That may be all he'll need. If you're right, I'll be the first to admit it. BTW. I don't consider myself a "message board hero" or a "big men of the internet." We're just giving opinions. Isn't that o.k.?

Man...

I think we have three QBs who could displace some of those listed:
JaMarcus Russell
Matt Flynn (conquerer of Miami)
Ryan Perrilloux (mouth of the South; but good anyway)

If you guys are talking about me all I said it I don't think he should be on this list right now. Once again I think he'll be an above average SEC QB. Once again I hope I'm wrong, but I still can name right now about 20 other college players that I think should be on that list above Mitchell. That's not blasting him it's just stating a fact that 99.9% of college football fans would agree. For the 3rd time on this board I hope I wrong.
