The talent didn't seem to have much depth in this years draft, but check out the talent that will be in next years draft. That is some serious talent for the first round.

Jeff Samardzija ND
Dwayne Jarrett USC
Steve Smith USC
Ted Ginn Jr. OSU
Calvin Johnson GT

If Sidney Rice has another great year, I'd expect him to leave early and enter the NFL Draft. If I was Rice, I probably wouldnt come out in 2007 because of the talent that you just listed above. Calvin Johnson and Ted Gin Jr. would probably be taken before him because Gin is also a great punt/kickoff returner. In 2008 Draft Rice could be a Top 5 pick, but it falls to needs and if in the 2007 draft a lot of teams need a WR, then I think Rice would come out.

I know he's done well at ND of late, but I just can't get on the Samardzija wagon. He looks like a brisk breeze would blow him over. I'm not convinced he can handle the rigors of NFL LBs and DBs.

i personally think he'll be a flop too, but scouts seem to be high on him. I thought Rice was a true sophomore next year.

If that's true, then he'll just take his 96mph fastball and go to the first round of the MLB draft.

If Rice is a "true sophmore" and didn't fail a grade in HS...he should be 19...meaning he'll be at USC for at least 2 more years...have to be 21 to enter the NFL draft.

No, you have to be three years removed from high school. That's how Larry Fitzgerald got in as a Sophomore because he spent a year at a prep school following high school. Rice sat out a year in 2004 which is information I got from the following at CFN:

7. WR Sidney Rice, South Carolina – Rice is a sophomore, but sat out 2004 with a bum knee, making him eligible for the 2007 draft. He won’t pass it up. Some players are just built for Sundays, and Rice is one of them. He’s an athletic, 6-4 receiver, who, like a Braylon Edwards or Larry Fitzgerald, has a knack for skying above defenders and plucking the ball off the horizon. That he’s the best receiver Steve Spurrier has ever coached may be part hyperbole, but being the SEC’s top receiver two years running will be proof enough Rice is ready for the next level.

well then thats another that could go round 1. i think he'd be smart to stay around another year though with all that talent for next year.
