True, this really does not change anything. It just adds another bowl game. Nothing else will change as far as choosing a true national championship and they have already built in a logistical nightmare. To keep from pissing off the other four BCS bowls they agreed that the bowl would only be played in one of those four cities on a rotating basis. Very few if any of those four cities is equipped to handle two major bowls in one week. It will become a logistical nightmare for those cities, their hotels, and especially the fans trying to book the rooms. It should have been awarded to a city such as Atlanta that is equipped to handle it or it should have been moved around the country like the US Open is. But once again they proved that the bowls run the NCAA instead of the other way around.

I couldn't disagree more. While I would love to see a game in ATL each city will know 4 years in advance that the game will be there. If a city can't plan that far in advance for this they should be wipped off the map. I think what this does in give us a plus 1 system. This is as close to playoff that college football will ever get. I think it will help us have a true national title team. I think it's a great idea.

TrueGC, help me out here and explain it to me. How is this any different than years past? It is the exact same. It is just one extra bowl game. How this is any closer to being a playoff system? It is not even one step closer.

After re-reading the article you are 100% correct. I misread the whole thing. I was under the impression it was a plus 1 format. I'm a complete idoit and should be shot. Once again my fault. Sorry. :stooges:

You're not an idiot, as you said, you just misread it. There are are a lot of people who have assumed the same thing you did. The only purpose of the extra bowl is more TV money and to let lesser teams like Louisville and Utah into the BCS, so actually they are just watering down the competition for the extra TV money.

You're going to tell me that Atlanta has the infrastructure to handle it but Los Angeles does not? Same really with Miami, and Phoenix is not a small city. You run into that problem with New Orleans, but that's it.

I'm not saying that the cities could not handle it and I was just using Atlanta as an example of a major city that did not have a bowl that week. The Peach Bowl could be moved to an earlier date. It could be any city with hotel space and did not have a major bowl in the exact same week. It could be Orlando, Las Vegas, etc. It would just be a tough job to do two major bowls in the same city in one week. If they can pull it off fine, I don't really care. It just seemed strange that only those four cities would be allowed to have it. It seems on the surface to be influenced by those four bowls. The reason there will never ever be a playoff system is because of the power of those four bowls but I really don't care about that either. The system as it is can remain the same as far as I'm concerned.
