This may be old news...but I thought I would have seen a thread on it...maybe there is and I missed it...
Claussen will be playing for the Irish for his college career. I read it on foxsports.com. He said Charlie Weis was the main reason for his decision. He also said Notre Dame wasnt even on his list before Weis arrived.

I guess the good news is is that none of our teams will have to face him on a regular basis. I am not sure how many more years if any UT has to play the Irish, but that should be a fun game to watch since the little brother didnt follow his older brothers to UT. I personally think that putting this much emphasis on a highschooler is ridiculous by the media...I am sure sportscenter will have a 30 minute segment about how this will bring a National Championship to Notre Dame.

Nice quote on his part saying he wants 4 national championship rings...yeah rrrright.

Did they tell him to do that. Or worse, he thought of that himself?? Makes me sick :barf:

Did y'all here what he demanded of Spurrier? The kid told Spurrier that in order for him to consider South Carolina further, then Spurrier needed to hire his brothers. Needless to say, I lost a lot of respect for this kid.

And needless to say, there are no Clausen's working at South Carolina.

i heard that but didnt want to say anything about it. do you know if that request went for ND and southern cal as well? Regardless im very pleased Spurrier didnt give in to a 19 year old kid. alot of people would have lost respect for Spurrier if he had given in.

I'm certain that he didn't make that demand to ND.

Do you really think that Spurrier gives in to 19 yo kids? Come on.

Didnt I read somewhere that UT was hiring one of his brothers to their staff just to have more pull with him?

Tell you what, though: Charlie Weis just put on a clinic about how to land your target player. Three minutes into recruiting period, Weis was in Claussen's back pocket, and never left. Plus, even better for ND, Claussen is due to graduate early, so they don't t need to hold the commitment as long.

A smart program would look to pick off Zach Fraser or Demetrius Jones. Weis promised Jones that he was being recruited for QB and no other position. Zach Fraser is actually a pretty interesting recruiting story, which I'll save for another day, save for pointing out that he thought he was the heir to Brady Quinn. In the end, in 2007 there's only one ball. What's Demetrius' phone number?

As one last point, could Southern Cal have had a worse April? First they lose Claussen out of their own backyard to their chief rival, then Mark Sanchez gets arrested, then Reggie Bush's conduct threatens to wipe out their 2004 championship. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of pretty boys.
