SPRING VALLEY, Calif. – In this sprawling hilltop community with a breathtaking view of Sweetwater Lake, it was no secret who lived in the 3,000-square-foot house at the corner of Apple Street and Luther Avenue.
That home, residents would tell you, was where Reggie Bush's family lived.
That is, until this weekend, when the family abruptly packed up and vacated the residence – less than 24 hours after Yahoo! Sports approached Bush's mother about information linking the property to Michael Michaels, a man who is alleged to have tried to play a role in steering Bush toward an agent and who also has ties to a sports marketing company.
Days before Bush is expected to be the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft, unanswered questions about the residence and how his mother, stepfather and brother came to live in it within the last year have prompted the University of Southern California to refer the matter to the Pacific-10 Conference for an investigation.
NCAA statutes prohibit student-athletes or their families from receiving extra benefits from professional sports agents, marketing companies or their representatives. A breach of these statutes could result in an athlete being ruled ineligible, and games in which they played could be forfeited

Awesome, I bet if they did some more investigating they would find a lot more of that at USC. Not that the SEC is clean by any means, but I don't think any booster or agent ever gave a recruit/player an $800,000 house. I do have some questions though if the NCAA does prove it and USC is forced to forfeit all the games they played with Reggie:
1. If all USC games that Reggie Bush played in are forfited would Auburn be the national champs for 2004?
2. Would they lose their share of the 2003 title to LSU?
3. Would that embarassing a** 70-17 lose last year go off our freaking record?
I would like nothing better then a yes to all three.

LOL, I hope they get a huge hit to their program if they are even slightly responsible for this.

I wonder what the monthly lease on a $757, 000 home goes for? I know I could not afford it.

Question for all? Without an agent, booster, family member, or school official being involved is a kid with all that potential allowed to go to a bank or lending institution and borrow $$$$ on the 'potential' he has and on his signature alone. Years ago I made a 'signature loan to go back to school to get my teacher's degree. It was with a bank where a good friend was a loan officer and I payed back the loan on time. Is this type of thing possible for these 'high potential guys or is it forbidden? You all seem to be knowledgable and I'm too lazy to 'ask jeeves'. Thanks in advance!

I honestly dont think the University had anything to do with this. i think it was just an Agent trying to gain a client that is the potential #1 draft pick. $757, 000 is nothing campared to what they would gain with Reggie's #1 contract. i dont see anything happening to Southern Cal's program.

ahhh, you are wondering into my waters now. the principal and interest(not including taxes, which would be huge, or homeowner's ins) would be 4660/month and that is at a very forgiving interest rate. add the tax rate in MEMPHIS(not anywhere near socal im assuming) and you add about another 1300/month. ins is probably around 252/month......therefore, your total payment(very generous) would be around 6212/month.
chump change man, chump change.

I dont see anything happening to So Cal's program, not because no rules were broke, but because its So. Cal. You guys seem to be forgetting that while the SEC schools are combed over with a fine toothed comb for any hint of foul play, schools like Ohio St. can have multiple players claiming they received all types of unwarranted benefits with no foul play discovered at all *cough*Maurice Clarett*cough*. This guy may or may not have been a booster, but either way there was certainly an obscene amount of special benefits given to family members of Reggie Bush. If this case doesnt go punished then there should be a review of the rules and a measure included to make things like this illegal. If not the game of college football will take one step closer to the Pro's...

USC this is not going to be fun if you turn up guilty. Trust me I know, Bama is finally getting back from NCAA sanctions and it has hurt us for nearly a decade now. Have fun with that USC.
