I suggest waiting until after their Senior year before ranking players...that's what the recruiting services do....it happens every year....the guys that are "suppose" to be the top players get leaped by unknowns....good luck with Garcia...he is high on the UF board, but it may be difficult for UF to get a "top notch" QB this year, considering he'll probably ride the bench for 3 years.

Wow, way to burst someone's bubble. We get a couple of GREAT commits and it's already being made out like it could backfire. Why can't we get some congrats or something, instead of a "I wouldn't get too excited" kinda attitude???
*Peace*- headin' over to the Garnet and Black Game.

You mean like all the "Tebow-will-be-a-bust" posts we read earlier this year?

Sorry, I didn't mean that, and I did wish you luck on Garcia...congrats on your commits, I'm just saying I wouldn't post that a player is #1 in the state much less country until at least after the Summer camps when the kids are evaluated by college coaches and given their "stars".
And GN is right, all we've heard from a lot of you is how TT will be a bust...but that wasn't my intention here.

gator, in theory you are correct. gary gray is rivals first team at db..on the same list is jimmy clausen at qb..i feel pretty safe that the guys on that list will be just as highly regarded then as now.

I have personally never said anything negative about Tebow. However, I cannot vouch for everyone on here.

I understand what you're saying...and you may well be correct...if this had not been on the Florida board, I probably wouldn't even have commented...however, as a close follower of recruiting, I've learned a few things over the years...including the fact that it's easy to say one thing now...yet, it's all opinions until after the camps and senior seasons.

there is still plenty of talent left to be evaluated. the majority of guys in the rivals 100 will stay there, but there are always some that drop out and new guys come in. for instance, kerry murphy, a dt from alabama will more than likely be in the rivals 100 but is nothing right now. the kid is a beast (he plays for hoover) and goes against the best competition in the nation. congrats on the commits so far, hope you guys have a good season.

You will soon find that I actually like South Carolina. We could lose the whole "Bammer" thing though.

I don't think that Bammer is really a bad nickname.

It's lookin' more and more like Garcia will be a cock...best of luck to him...seems he doesn't want to compete with TT for a starting spot...I don't blame him. Best of luck to him if he chooses USCocks...as I said before, considering how well Tebow did this Spring with the Meyer offense, it'll be hard for us to sign a "highly touted" QB out of HS...luckily, we got one of the best JUCO QBs committed.

I don't know why Spurrier wants Garcia. SG is not a pocket-passer, and SOS's offense doesn't utilize a mobile QB. Smells like plan B for SC at this point. Brantley would have been a much better choice.....and maybe SOS can still pull him: immediate playing time instead of waiting behind Snead, better offense (at sc) for his skill set as well. That read-option offense at Texas will not suit Brantley either (see Chris Leak).
As for me, if Garcia goes to sc, then congrats to them. It's very likely because Meyer called out one or more QB recruits in one of his FL stops. Most of us on GB have been speculating that he was referencing Garcia and his tentative approach to competition (i.e., Tebow). If that's the case, he's not the guy you want anyway. Add to which, I prefer other QBs on our board....specifically Tyrod Taylor. His film is amazing. He's #1 on my board.

I agree about Taylor...he can do it all...he could very easily play WR as well. It's amazing how Texas can sign all of these HT QBs, yet, other schools have issues because of competition for playing time...these kids want to step on campus and start...it's gettin' a little ridiculous.

Garcia was said to be one of the better performers at the recent Nike camp in Gainsville. The top performer was Brantly but Garica did well. They said he has a powerful arm but he relies on it too much, if he improves his follow through he could be unstoppable. On a side note, it was said he connected well with Dion Lecorn.

Yep...an insider buddy of mine said Brantley was tops...but Garcia and Gray were right behind him...said Gray was very thin, though.
