Conference Standings:

ACC (4 Teams) - 6 - 2
Good start for the ACC. NC State did better than expected, but I thought UNC would go to the round of 16

Big East (9Teams) - 9 - 4
Supposed to be the "BEST" conference this year. Looks like that may be true. Nova still ahead of Zona. If they hold out, that will give the Big East 5 teams in the round of 16.

Big Ten (6 Teams) - 3 - 6
Total disaster for the Big 10 so far. 6 Teams....6 Losses. They're toast. :flame:

Big 12 (4 Teams) - 3 - 3
Texas is the last team standing for the Big 12. Another tough tournament for a major conference.

Colonial Athletic (2 Teams) - 2 - 1
George Mason....are you kidding me???? So far they've taken down Michigan State and UNC.

Conference USA (2 Teams) - 1 - 1
Conference USA is about one team, and one team only....but what a team. Memphis carries the banner, probably all the way to the Final Four

Mid American (2 Teams) - 0 - 2
Gone

Missouri Valley (4 Teams) - 4 - 2
Incredible showing for Bradley and Wichita State. Two teams in the Sweet 16. Outstanding.

Mountain West (2 Teams) - 0 - 2
Who cares?

Pac 10 (4 Teams) - 5 - 1
Doing better than expected. Have only lost Cal so far. But could lose Arizona later today.

SEC (6 Teams) - 7 - 4
About what I expected out of the SEC. An off year, but still some quality teams. Florida and LSU still in it, although I would be surprised to see them in the Elite 8.

So is it too early to talk about who's having the best showing in the tournament? Is it too early to talk about which was the best conference? What do you think so far?

I disagree...UF has been arguably one of the most dominating teams in the Tourney thus far...2 blow-out wins....it looked as though UF "peaked" at the beginning of the season and was going down towards the last third...however, UF has really turned in on since the start of the SEC tourney. With Georgetown beating OSU...this is good news for the Gators...I saw the Gators having match-up problems with OSU...but vs Georgetown, I see the Gators combination of size and speed giving them the edge....I think UF at least makes it to the Elite 8.

I'll be very surprised to see either SEC team make the next round. Will be pulling for LSU though. Only because I detest duke basketball and anything associated with the ACC.

Love seeing George Mason knocking out two solid programs. Too bad they have to play another cinderella story in wichita State. Wish these two were in separate brackets.

Here are my predictions for the elite 8:

DUKE vs LSU I think if LSU can find someone to hold down JJ to a minimum the Big Baby will take care of the rest. LSU in upset

West Virgina vs Texas Texas has too much speed for WV- Texas

Memphis VS Bradley The silver slipper comes off. Memphis

Gonzaga vs UCLA The Bruins have tradition but the Zags have Morrison. Gonzaga

Connecticut vs Washington Huskies win, of course but I the ones on the east coast U Conn

George Mason vs Wichita State. I hate they have to play each other. I think George Mason has played the tougher teams. George Mason

Villanova vs Boston College Boston College should have lost in the first round, Nova takes care of them this time. Villanova

Florida vs Georgetown Florida is peaking at the right time. The flood of Noah. Florida

I'll be surprised if either team don't...UF and LSU will definately have their hands full with Georgetown and Duke...but both are beatable.

I'm pretty much in agreement with you, but I don't know if the Tigers can pull it off. They have an excellent first seven players, but after that, their depth runs out. I hope they are pumped and play their best ball. They are very athletic and can give Duke a good run for their money if they show up ready to play.

Florida, I agree, is peaking and playing outstanding basketball. I believe they will beat Georgetown. I'll be rooting for the Gators, of course.
