It's been known for awhile that Shula was getting a new contract this year, but there has been no word on the specifics of the contract. Today ESPN.com posted an article (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2343183) stating that the contract has now been awarded to Shula, though the University has not officially announced it yet.
According to the article, it is a 6-year contract valued at $1.8 million per year. This would put him at the same salary as the 4th-highest-paid coach in the SEC, Mark Richt of Georgia.
If these numbers are true, I'm sure Mike Shula is a very satisfied man as he steps out onto the practice field for the first day of spring practice today.
