Now that there are some changes around here, give me some feedback on some items....

Babe of the Day - Stay or Go
Sub forums in Water Fountain? Stay or go?
Someone mentioned that they don't like the way the Team Forums are now. Anyone else have any issues with that format?
I am not trying to take things away from the users, but I am trying to cut the fat on items that are not being used as much anymore now that some folks are gone.

Here is a tip for posting as well. If you haven't noticed, there are team icons, called post icons, under the post new message box. If you use these to identify a thread about a particular school, when someone does a search or a new posts query, the schools icon shows in the results and I think this would be great for members looking for posts about a certain school. Of course you could always just observe the Category Column.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Babe of the Day - Stay or Go
Unless someone wants to maintain this like Neo did and keep it clean, I don't see a need any longer, but I am open to feedback.

Sub forums in Water Fountain? Stay or go?
I would like to see the Religion and Politics (http://www.sectalk.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=57), Funny Stuff (http://www.sectalk.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=58), Sports (http://www.sectalk.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=61), Just Farking Around (http://www.sectalk.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=64) forum threads dumped into the main water fountain category.

Someone mentioned that they don't like the way the Team Forums are now. Anyone else have any issues with that format?
I like this and chose this route to eliminate so much up/down scrolling on the main page, but once again, I am open to feedback. Its not a problem to scroll down and hit the top link in the bottom right.

Someone mentioned the dislike with the boxes around info in the postbit, I have removed those as well.

I would like for the Babe of the Day to stay, and I agree with the rest of your opinion.

I think we all like babe of the day.

One Water Fountain category sounds good.

Team forums okay either way as far as I geaux.

That all sounds good to me. I mainly just rely on the new posts button anyway so any changes that will make it easier for others to navigate through to find what they want go for it.

Don't need BOTD, but it's fine if others like it.

Dump into the Water Fountain is fine.

Team forums are fine, too. And thanks for the postbit changes.....they look much better now imo.

everything sounds fine to be. BOTD isn't necessary, but it's still fun. If anything we could just post it in the water fountain.

Just my 2 cents....

BOTD, doesn't matter to me. If enough like it, probably keep it if someone takes it over who can keep it clean.

Water Fountain would be good to just be one central place, I think. The subforums don't really add all that much, as there's not massive amounts of posts in them anyhow.

Team forums are good either way to me. Just whichever the majority likes.

I'm fine with just about everything. There is one thing we could do. A change in the logo would sort of symbolize a "new beginning" with the site now that there have been several changes and that old posters are gone and many new guys have stepped in. I just don't think our logo looks "sporty" enough now. The first logo that had Shaun Alexander and the UK basketball player looked great so I think it would be nice to return to a logo that had more shots of SEC athletes in it.

Nice idea, but I don't like the player-specific thing. It would be better, imo, if we could update it--if we need to update it at all--with something that relates to all SEC fans.

I don't know what that would/could be though. Trophies maybe?

You actually remember this and liked it? Yike, I thought it was horrible.

Or was it this one... even worse. LOL

Good ideas from both you and Nate. The only thing that would make me step back and think hard about using players, school logos, trophies, etc... would be copyrights/trademarks on items like these. I'm personally not sure what schools, NCAA, SEC, etc have in place for usage policies.

If the logo were updated with things like this, it'd definitely be Chris' ultimate decision as it's his company name at risk if anything were in violation of a trademark or anything.

Personally though, I kinda like the simplicity of the current logo. Very streamlined look to it that really flows with the layout of the page.

I'll whip up some samples and we can vote later....

I agree with Jordan on adding logos, photos, etc... Not for the legal reasons, but it would be tough to create something that would make fans of all schools happy and if I did something that would include all of them, it would be cluttered.

Lets just say some moron came wandering by that didn't know what the SEC was. I think a logo that simply looked more sports related would be nice. Maybe a logo with multi-colors of all the schools or something. How about a slogan: "The SEC is TIDE tough!"

Chris

I vote yes on that slogan, but I think it would not go over well...hehe

I say we keep it all. I love it just how it is. I will be restarting the BOTD very shortly.

Can some of these duplicate threads be closed and deleted or something? I am no computer whiz, but I am sure getting rid of some threads would help out with server loading time.

This is just one of those lingering questions that I have...
