Three players from the 2005 Florida Gators football team have been questioned by police after shots were fired into a Gainesville apartment last weekend.

A shot was fired from the hallway of an apartment complex into one of the units occupied by two women around midnight Saturday, said Sgt. Keith Kameg.

Later that night residents saw several men leaving the scene and carrying what they thought was a gun case, Kameg said. The men were identified as cornerback Dee Webb -- a junior who is heading to the NFL Draft -- receiver Andre Caldwell and cornerback Reggie Lewis.

Police later found an AK-47 and AR-15 assault rifles as well as .38 caliber shell casing in Webb's apartment at the complex. The Gainesville PD later questioned Webb about the guns, and also found a .38-caliber revolver and a 12-gauge shotgun in an SUV driven by Caldwell.

Webb -- who sounds like the focus of the investigation -- is gone to the NFL, for all intensive purposes. The two remaining players seem to be just loosely associated, so its likely the Gators won't be hurt by this investigation.

Sounds like Webb thinks he's prepping for the NBA draft.........

If it turns out that this is true then its a discrase not only to UF but to all of the SEC. I can't see how anyone that has such athletic ability and a chance to really be somthing special for both colledge and pro football would throw it all away like that.

yeah, i read about this myself. seems as caldwell let dee webb borrow his car and webb left a shotgun and a pistol in there. they later found the 2 assault rifles in webb's apartment. webb has claimed all 4 guns are his.

i never heard reggie lewis' name brought up, but i cant remember who it was(seems it was a receiver). anyway, this unnamed subject fired a pistol into an occupied apartment and this is the biggest part of the story. that is a 2nd degree felony and i cant understand why someone would just fire a gun into an apartment. :brick:

The sad part is even if it trully was an accident those involved will probably be booted off the team as they should. As they say if you play with fire long enough you're going to get burned.

well, i think caldwell should be fine. dee webb claimed the guns and that was all caldwell was involved in. the guy who shot into the house(i think it was tookes) will probably be jailed, much worse than getting kicked off of the team.

think about just sitting in your living room watching tv and a bullet wizzes through the room. what the hell?

It was Tookes...his father stated that he accidentally fired the gun...I could care less about the "trouble"...I'm just glad no one was injured. Tookes should be OK...he has never been in trouble before according to his father. Caldwell is out of it. Webb is a thug anyway, and I'm glad he left. Lewis and Caldwell came in after the fact so both have been cleared.

even if it was an accident, i doubt it will be OK. Seems like a pretty serious thing to me if you're driving around in a car with a gun in your hand and you pull the trigger, accident or not. He shouldn't have had the gun in his hand, it shouldn't have been loaded, he shouldn't have pointed it at an apartment. Good luck to him, but he shouldn't have even been in that situation.

First of all, the gun was fired in the apartment...the gun "went off" and passed through his apart. into the other occupied apartment. Afterwards, he and Webb left...in a hurry I'd presume and met up with Caldwell and Lewis. They all got in Caldwell's SUV and went back to the apartment. By that time, the police had been notified and the story came out...all of the guns found were legally registered to Dee Webb. I agree as far as getting into that situation...but these are teenagers we're talking about...just glad no one was injured.

As far as criminal liabilities, there will be none....authorites are saying that the story checks out...no wrong-doing....stupidity is not a crime.
