I saw an amazing show the other night on TLC about this man with 27 in. biceps. He had obviously been taking steroids for quite awhile. Where he had given himself shots so frequently in his arm, he developed an infection that became about the size of a cantaloupe. He was also selling large amounts of steroids from his gym and got busted after years of dealing. He left his wife and child to pursue his drug lifestyle. This show made me wonder if some of these extreme body builders are experiencing something similar to that of anorexics. In the mental health field there is a diagnosis of Body Dysmorphic Disorder. It's a very rare disorder where a person is obsessed and preoccupied with an imagined defect of their body. These people often go to great extremes to change the defect. It just made me see a sort of connection with these types of bodybuilders. I guess you could also call this obsessive and compulsive! Anyway, this man really looks like some kind of circus sideshow. Oh, I saw that too. That was a pretty cool show, that dude had some freakish arms before and some freakish ones after (after they had to cut half his biceps out to remove the infection).
