Revisiting the Carlos Brown Recruitment

Here is an account of what happened that 3 or 4 Georgia fans from his hometown have posted:

As you may remember, Carlos caught a lot of flack from everybody for having his picture taken with UGA, South Carolina, and FSU hats and then choosing Michigan.

Carlos' mom and dad separated and Carlos's dad didn't have very much to do with his life. I believe Carlos lived with his mother's parents. Apparently, Carlos was set to attend Georgia. However, a coach from another school he didn't choose, called up his dad and said "are you really going to let youe ex's parents influence your sons decision?". Carlos' dad then tried to get into Carlos' recruitment which caused a big argument in his family. This made Carlos decide to get away from all of the BS going on in his family so he chose Michigan.

While this isn't proven, 3 reliable posters from his hometown have said it was true.

I'm not trying to start anything. I just posted this so maybe it could clear up some of the shock that we all had when Carlos decided on Michigan.

If that really is the case, then I hope he CAN get away and start fresh. But Lloyd Carr? I would have chosen Joe Pa or Ty Willingham for that purpose.

He didn't officialy visit Penn State or Washington though. Michigan was the only other place he visited besides UGA, USC, and FSU.

i dont know if it is really fair to blame bowden for this guy choosing Michigan. There is absolutely no proof of that what so ever.

I'm not sure I believe this story... but from what I heard it was Spurrier. Just a RUMOR though, I don't mind saying who I was told made the comment, that's what message boards are for, heh. Shoot the messenger if you want, just tellin ya what I heard.

And I think Carlos was living with a white, foster family at the time...

I know Carlos had his in home visits with the white family but I don't think he lived there.

I am strongly inclined to believe this. He narrows it down to UGA and USC like 2 days before he decides. 2 days later, he picks Michigan. What other explanation could there be? The Michigan posters on rivals didn't even know who he was when he committed.
