Just wondering what information anyone has if any on the David Gibbs situation.

Do you guys think he will stay as Auburn's DC or is he just waiting for signing day to blow over and then skip town? Since just about every NFL team has had pleanty of time to evaluate their upcomming coaching needs and changes I would be willing to bet a decision has already been made one way or the other...

What is yalls honest opinion? This is a sincere thread by the way, no harm or foul intended.

I'm pretty sure he is gonna leave. Not 100%, but it sounds like he's gonna be gone. He seemed to be acting odd to me ever since the bowl game. He didn't show up for the press conference and seemed to disappear for about 3 weeks. He never was active in recruiting any of the players, so there were signs that he wasn't coming back. I've heard that the top guys up for the job are Will Muschamps, Randy Shannon, Jon Tenuta, and Chuck Pagano in that order. All of them have a great resume.

If he does, I won't cry. What a spineless weasel for making his players take the heat from the press after the bowl game.

He's gone. Apparently accepted a job with Kansas City Chiefs.

I thought that might be the case. I don't really like the fact that he waits till one day after signing day to announce his departure though, if I were a defensive prospect that just signed I might feel shafted. That is assuming they were led to believe he was going to stay.

I don't think they chose Auburn b/c of David Gibbs. If they did sure they should feel shafted. Don't think it would have made a hill of beans diff though.

I don't think anyone chose AU because of Gibbs either. He also never recruited anyone, so I don't think any of the recruits really go to know him either. But ya, if they did come because of Gibbs, that would suck. I'm actually looking forward to the guys that we have on our list for the new DC. All of them have a hell of a resume.

And I'm sure the scheme won't take 4 years and a phD for the DB's to pick up.
