I hate Thursday games. They are for the Southern Misses and Akrons of the World. No self-resprecting SEC team should agree to do it. All it does is prevents many fans from traveling accross the state for the game. We don't need the exposure. Maybe Spurrier does.

Yeah, I don't like em either. Leave Thursday night for the MAC.

Wow, that's an interesting move. But the South Carolina game (Thursday) to start off the 2005-06 season set the ESPN2 viewing record, I believe. Granted, that was the first game of the season when everyone's just itching to watch a football game.
I don't like them either. It just has a whole different "feel" to it....

No Auburn fans traveling to the game, then that's a good advantage for us then ;) but believe me Spurrier doesnt need any exposure. I believe this will be the second Thursday game for SC with MOO U starting off the year.

In 96 and 97. AU won both. I went to both and both were Saturday Day games. I believe the 97 game in Columbia was the JP game. The fair was in town. it was a zoo.
We used to play on Thursday when we we had Porky Pig (Bowden) for our coach. We played Kentucky, UVA to name a couple. Another reason I'm glad Bowden is gone.

Not to flame anyone but Bama will never play on Thursday. ESPN and Miss. St. offered a few years back and were rebuked. Playing during the week cheats the fans and hometown merchants as well. I realize that a lot of schools need the $ and want the exposure but no thanks. That said, I will be watching the game! RTR

I remember going to the UVA/AU game back in 98. I was like in the 5th grade and went with a Barner friend of mine...
Didn't y'all get shutout? :D

Yes, 19-0. It was about as shocking as the way we opened the 2003 season vs USC. That was the beginning of the end for coach abee abee Bowden (porky pig).

Williams Brice will be packed at any game on any day or night. Thursday is no problem for the South Carolina faithful.
It is interesting that ESPN seems to hate USC when they are talking about them, but they love to put them in their prime time slots. Holtz, and now Spurrier, have obviously made ESPN a lot of money. The national TV audience is always good for any program.

That's a good point, and ya know, it's not like ESPN and the Auburn Athletic Department are the best of friends.
If this is true, then y'all all need to get over it. Don't take a trip to Negativetown (to quote Vince Vaughn). The place will be sold out, and the stadium will be full. Auburn has fantastic fans, and they will buy their allotment. That being said, I definitely prefer Saturday games, but any football atmosphere is better at night. If ESPN is giving us a chance to play a home game at night, then let's take it.

In 1995 "Buster Brown" scheduled us to play Mississippi State on Thursday Oct 5, but Hurricane Opal had other plans. Our campus was wrecked and the power out. It was a miracle that the game got played the following Saturday w/o TV of course. Many of the traffic lights were still not working and many law enforcement officers from the south were unable to come up for crowd control.

Your thread started yesterday. A full 3 days after this one. Perhaps you should check to make sure that a thread doesn't already exist before you sarcastically claim to be the source of all knowledge. By the way I can't wait to see that visor fly off Spurrier's hhead
