Man that was a great game, with Stukes coming up big for us and hitting the game winning 3 in OT. Great game guys, the SEC East is strong from top to bottom.

Good win for Georgia. This is a great example of two teams heading in different directions. UGA is heading up, and we're going the opposite direction. I had high expectations that we would be a much better team than we've shown this year, especially after winning the NIT last year (I believed before the season started that we would be in the NCAA Tournament and would possibly make a run in the NCAA Tournament). This game was another example of typical SC basketball. We have the ball with less than 1 minute to go in OT, the game is tied, and we have a great opportunity to take the lead.......THEN WE TURN THE FREAKING BALL OVER and give UGA the last shot. As I said in the thread after we lost to Tennessee, I've been following SC basketball for too long, and SC always seems to screw up. In that game we blow a 15 point lead (at home). In this one, we turn the ball over when we have the chance to win the ball game in the last few seconds. These kind of things can happen on the road, and usually a team can survive. But not at home. This is typical SC basketball. We can write this basketball season off. :(

All i can say is this makes me sick...not so much losing on a game winning shot but because of the turnover that lead to the shot...anyone else ready for Baseball?

Strong from top to next to bottom. When is the spring game?

You know dude, it certainly seems that way: that all-pervading tendencies do seem to plague a team year after year.
But for the four years I was a student here, it was entirely different (1970-1974). We had an aura of invincibility that has NEVER been equaled or even approached since (I liked the '97 team a lot, though). We could be 15 points down at halftime and still know we were going to win. I remember back-to-back games where we were down by around 15 at the half. In both games we came roaring back to win by 10 to 15 points. One of the teams was Niagra, as I recall.
Anyway, we had players like John Roche (the greatest b-ball player to ever where the garnet and black--he was consistent hitting those 15 to 20-foot jumpers), Kevin Joyce, Tom Riker (he AVERAGED around 14 rebounds per game) and Brian Winters (another clutch, great shooting guard). Some of the greatest players (and teams :D ) we ever had were in that five year period.
That magic happened once--it could conceiveably happen again (though greedily, this time I hope it occurs in the realm of USC football, instead--that is, if it can't happen both places ;) ).

Yep, I remember John Roche, Tom Owens, Kevin Joyce, etc. I remember when I was in elementary school, John Roche visited our school and talked to us and did a basketball exibition. I didn't really follow college basketball that much back then (a little young to care), but I remember those teams and how well they did with Frank Mcguire as coach. By the way, I was a student at SC from 1978 through 1983.

We need a coach that can establish some consistency and bring in players that are more consistent. Many of our players are good but are way too up and down.

Don't forget we also had the ball in regulation at the end of the game and turned it over to give Ga a chance to win, 'Gaines missed the shot", Then they turn it over again in over time and gave Ga the game winner. Odom is not the answer to our basketball program. The SEC is down this year and we are further down. Our problem is, we shoot too many long jump shots and the other team is pounding inside. Unless you have a JJ Redick you will not win many games with this style offense.

You were there just a little after I was. Unfortunately, by then, we were mediocre in roundball, though I do believe we won something like 20-22 games in '83. It has been a few years, eh?
