Virginia Tech kicks Marcus Vick off football team

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick was dismissed from the team Friday, the result of numerous legal transgressions and his unsportsmanlike conduct in the Gator Bowl.
University president Charles Steger announced the dismissal on the same day that coach Frank Beamer met with Vick and his mother in their Hampton Roads home, the school said. Beamer informed them of the decision during the meeting.

That was great! I am just confused as to why they (VT) did not toss his butt out of the game when they saw it. Kevin Rogers admits that he "lectured" him at halftime, but he sent him back into the game. Pretty easy to discipline him a week after the fact.

Vick will get a much different response from players in the NFL. A stunt like that will almost guarantee him an injury replay reel similar to the arsehole Joe Theisman.

What I don't understand is how Theisman survived the NFL at all. A friend of mine was with the Redskins player personnel office and he said that everybody hated him. The year his leg was broken there was apparently a pool on the number of cheapshots he would take per game. Randall said that the O-Line never stopped providing protection for him, but they never retaliated on his behalf.

Yeah just read this myself. I'd be willing to assume he'll enter the draft this year now. If so, I'm sure he'd go at some point in the draft.... any takers on what team would give him a shot?

LOL -- It might be possible that the Falcons would take him as his brothers back up. That way he would be protected due to the love fest his brother has with the fans and the team. Although this is real unlikely it is always a possibility due to the fact people are looking at getting Matt Schaub from ATL.

Schaub is the man. Too bad the Falcons won't be able to keep him.
Marcus' stock is not going to be really high. He seems to carry this attitude that says, "I don't need all this". Well, he's at the last level, so he only has one more shot. I have zero respect for him. He changed his name to Vick in high school just to have some name recognition, then couldn't live with the fact that having that name came with added scrutiny.
Gamecockdiehard said it earlier. He's going to get his a$$ kicked if he pulls any of that crap in the NFL. He certainly hasn't learned any lessons this year. His quote after being kicked off the team?
"It's not a big deal," Vick told the newspaper. "I'll just move on to the next level, baby."
Yeah, baby.

According to a statement released on the Virginia Tech website on Friday afternoon, Hokies quarterback Marcus Vick has been permanently dismissed from the Hokie football program due to "a cumulative effect of legal infractions and unsportsmanlike play."
Vick, the younger brother of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, was criticized this week when he was caught on tape stomping the left calf of Louisville All-American Elvis Dumervil during the Hokies' 35-24 victory Monday.
Marcus Vick has played his last game for Virginia Tech.
To make matters worse, it was also learned that police stopped Vick in Hampton, Va., on Dec. 17 and charged him with speeding and driving on a suspended driver's license. Vick was charged with driving 38 mph in a 25 mph zone, the police spokesman said.
