Turned back from the Bama game and HELLO. Its 24-7 Florida. 1 second to go in the half, and Florida is kicking off. Let's keep this up, Gators.

UF got a real generous call to keep that last scoring drive going but UF is looking pretty good all around. Tate is OFF & they're taking advantage of his mistakes. Hodge & Greenwood have made a few plays and hard hits but that last score with :01 left in the half probably killed any chance Iowa had in coming back. They just aren't built to come back, I don't think.
go sec

Yea...those announcers seemed to think it was a "generous" call...however, he nearly took Leaks head off with his shoulder...we'll take it, though. f$u does the same thing...when a player is "sliding" as Leak loves to do, they try and put a lick on him...this isn't the NFL...a player is down when his knee touches.
Great game so far.....GO GATORS!!!

Looks like 31-7 now. Let's just not pull off a USC (no offense!!! :o ).
2:29 remaining in the 3rd.

IOWA GOT HOSED. How can you make that BS of a call on the onside kick? What a freakin joke. The guy wasn't even offsides.

Iowa was coming back 24-31, and kicked an onside kick with about 1:30 left. Iowa recovered. But you talk about a horible call. They called Iowa offside. I don't know how in the world they called that.
Anyway, Florida wins 31-24. Congrats, Gators.
As of now, the SEC is 3-1

Congrats to the Gators. I have to admit that Iowa got hosed on the final offsides call on the last kickoff, but I'm a homer and I gotta go with the conference teams.
So nice job for FL to hold on and win. Here's hoping the AU Tiggers can figure out how to do the comback thing.

Congratulations Gators on a big win. I didn't agree with the offsides call on the on-side kick that went against Iowa and kept them from having a chance at tying the game, but I've said it once and I'll say it again. Some of those calls go for you and some go against you, and you take them when you can.
Great win Florida! :)

That's crap....Iowa got the spot of the year on that 3rd down during the previous TD drive. Webb tackled him 3 yards behind the marker, and the refs gave him a first down. Should have been 4th and three, at least. If Iowa punts that series, or fails on fourth down, we're not even talking about an onside kick for the tie. We run out the clock up 10 points.
And let's not forget the angle of the replays. The ref was right on the line...not saying he was or wasn't offside, but you couldn't make that determination from the replay angle, as the commentators did continually, yet no one mentioned that once during the discussion.
The refs were poor all around: don't get me started on the Iowa DL making sounds at the line. They weren't "game-changing" calls, but [the motion calls] were three penalties that hurt our momentum/drives early in the game and throughout the first half.

Are you disputing that was the single biggest blown call of the game?
Florida was winning 31-7..... At least you guys held on.

I am. We didn't even see the play from another angle. The ref was right on the line, and yet Spielman freaked out anyway. I mean, c'mon....he didn't even think the earlier running-into-the-kicker penalty should've been called. That was textbook. Imo, he was looking for another call to make a phantom connection to the RITK call and helmet-to-helmet call, which should've been called "unnecessary roughness."
Anyway, the worst call was the first-down "spot" on 3rd down during the previous TD drive. There were bad calls for both teams, but that one wasn't even close.
No matter, though.....we won and represented the SEC in a positive way.

both were bad calls. that spot was ridiculous, as well as the offsides. like someone said, some go for you, some dont. florida won, argument over.
auburn, what the hell?

There were "bad calls" on both sides...the main reason it's even being brought up is because Speilman made such a big deal about them...it was hilarious...when UF got a call, there were like 6-7 replays shown...when that ref gave Iowa a first down...giving them a good 3 yards on the spot...there was a quick replay and they hushed up.
Let's not forget, these were Big Ten officials...I agree with GN, without seeing the proper angle on the onside, how can you possibly say it was a bogus call...besides, the rep threw the flag before Iowa recovered the onside.
Another point, Big Ten refs rarely call holding...the conference is basically a running conference...there were no holding penalties called all game...despite the fact that our d-lineman were being tackled at the LOS...anyway, chalk up another for the SEC.
Proud of the Gators for showing the B-10 that the SEC is no pushover!
GO GATORS!!!

Yeah....and what about the Iowa DL calling "snaps" at the line? Meyer was screaming to the refs that it happened three or four times; only the last one was called.
And what about Degory's "illegal us of hands" penalty that took away Baker's first-down screen pass? He shoulder-slapped the DT away from the screen side. It was a textbook block, and the poor call halted that drive cold.
The holding I understand.....that's how Big 11 OL are taught to block. Just tackle your man. It's much easier.
Iowa had their fair share of calls, and that isn't an admission that they weren't offsides on the kick. Both teams had to fight through inferior officiating, which seems to be a trend this year, and the Gators did that and won the game. If Iowa fans want to complain about something, blame Ferentz for allowing his team to get behind 31-7 before Jackson gift-wrapped a momentum-building TD with the dropped fair catch.

That's right GN blame Iowa for not being in the game from the start. Florida came to play today and Iowa couldn't handle that. Every Iowa fan on EVERY board I visit is blaming the loss on this call but they need to focus the blame on their team instead on the horrible officials.
BTW -- That was still the dumbest penalty of the game. At least Florida won for themselves and the SEC.

Glad I'm on the winning end of this thing....and if Ferentz leaves, they'll have bigger problems.

The Iowa players were offsides on that play. Announcers have way too much influence on the TV listeners. . . when the guy didn't even have an angle on the play good enough to tell. Their feet might have been over the line but the upper bodies definitely were and that's what the refs saw.

GeauxTo is right...the "W" is all that counts. I know I've done my fair share of peeing-and -moaning over bad calls this year...but in the end...you only remember the win. ;)

I'm just glad Meyer has turned us around from the 3 game bowl skid from the Zook era. This season is becoming more and more of a success, and all the 4 and 5 star recruits coming in are a direct reflection of that.
