Let's all put our opinions here for coach of the year for each conference. I'll still have to look at some of the conference. I will say I think Charlie Weiss has the independent one locked up, but if you wanna argue for paul johnson I have no problem with that. I'll put the rest of mine on here later, but as far as the SEC I would say Bobby Johnson of Vanderbilt, for the Big 10 I'd go with JoePa, for Conference USA I'd say George O'Leary, for the Big 12 it's obviously Mack Brown (you could argue Mike Leach, but I think he's second), in the ACC it's pretty tough, they weren't great at all this year, so I have no idea who to put for them. For the Pac-10 I put Mike Bellotti (sp?) of Oregon. I'll have to research the Mountain West, MAC, WAC, and others.....

SEC: Steve Spurrier
Big 10: JoePa
Pac-10: Pete Carol (sp?)
ACC: Bobby Bowden (meh) or Frank Beamer (meh), posibly Larry Coker
Big 12: Mack Brown
Independants: Charlie Weiss

The ACC is a tough one with everyone beating up on everyone else. No dominant team their. Big 12 and Pac 10 are no brainers, as is Weiss. SEC is SOS, with Richt close behind.

(by the way, why is this in independants?)

The ACC is too rough to do, they all suck in that conference. For the MAC I decided to go with the Northern Illinois head coach, not sure his name. Still haven't decided on the MWC or the WAC yet....

SEC - Tuberville - As much as I hate it, the guy lost an entire first round backfield and only had two stumbles during the season.
ACC - Larry Coker - I think Miami has okay talent, but Coker finds a way to win even with QB's that suck.
Ind - Paul Johnson - Yeah, I hate Notre Dame, but let's be realistic here. Weiss took a Notre Dame team that was 6-6 last year with three losses by a total of 7 points. The games against Pitt, BYU, and BC were all lost in the final two to three minutes of the game. The Pitt and BC games were injury-plagued and ND had well in hand until they lost players. I don't think Ty Willingham could coach my granny's quilting club, but I don't think Charlie Weiss has done anything great yet. An average coach should have gotten 9 or ten wins out of that group of athletes. What Johnson has done at Navy is nothing short of a miracle particularly with the extreme lack of depth that is common to Academy teams.
Big10 - Randy Walker - Tressel won more games, but what Walker did with the Wildcats this year should put him in position for a real big time HC spot in the next couple of years.
BigEast - Who Cares - Really...why are they still a conference. Let them play Basketall, but other than WVU, they are mid-majors.
Pac10 - Bellotti - I would love to pick Carroll, but a braindead imbecile could have coached the Trojans to 10 wins...and Leinhart and Bush won the ND game without significant input from the sidelines.
Big12 - Brown/Leach - A tie here. This conference is like a jumbo version of the Big East...they suck. Texas may beat USC, but their conference may actually be worse than the Pac10. Mack Brown is a fat, pathetic turd who doesn't deserve the athletes he has in Austin.

Overall coach of the year - TIE - Randy Walker and Paul Johnson who have made two teams more competive than they should be.
