I couldn't help myself with this. Craig Stevens, a Rivals 250 LB visited the Barn this past weekend and here is his quote:
"Man, there are a lot of things the same and it's hard to think about what was different for me," he said. "Really the only thing different I can think of is the campuses.
"Alabama is more up to date and a lot of the buildings are more business-like. Auburn is more of a country setting. That's the only way I know how to put it, it's hard to describe the schools. Both had positive vibes to them though."
On his way out, he was informed to "Eat More Chikin" by one of the locals.

so he is saying that alabama has more of a downtown setting and auburn has more of a rural setting... what were you trying to say?

What he is saying is CULTURE vs AGRICULTURE. Is that clear enough plowboy?

You can have fun playing with your cows and living in manure, and we can have "diversity" :D

Does Clempsun deserve that low of a comparison?

Allbarn is a freaking dump, that's what he is trying to say.
I've never seen more trash on the ground in my life. That place makes New Orleans look like Mayberry. It is a hellhole if there ever was one.

I'd describe a good portion of Tuscaloosa off the campus that same way as well. Ghetto supreme.

Tuscaloosa is a city (pop 80,000) and Oxford is a town (pop 12,000). With cities come rough areas, that's a known fact. There are some really nice parts of Tuscaloosa as well...
And I've been to Oxford and I really like it. But, there's something about going out into the areas that surround it. Man, I can just see "Mississippi Burning" taking place if you know what I mean. Where is it that I was where the second floor of the courthouse was condemned? Water Valley maybe? Yeah, you guys have some rough areas as well. As for me, I'd much rather be in your "ghetto supreme" area of T-Town than in the boondocks of northeast Mississippi. Yikes.

A good portion is too strong. I think you mean some areas. Sure, I can take you around to a few ghettos but I can also take you to some areas that would impress even a cultural expert from Missisip like you.
Tuscaloosa (population greater than 100K during the academic year) certainly has the haves and have nots, like most southern towns. I've been all over the world and wouldn't want to be anywhere else though. RTR!

A good portion of Columbia is ghetto-fabulous. I still love it here though. Nothing like 5 points after a Gamecock victory.

Tuscaloser is surrounded by ghetto scum and Auburn is a beautiful friendly college town. It's like night and day really. Tuscaloser has more than it's share of homeless, gangs and thugs. Run Forest....RUN!!!

LOL come on kid. The Barn is a beautiful, friendly college town? Allbarn is just one step above New Orleans in cleanliness... and that's after Katrina. Face it dude, it's a friggin dump!! What other school in the nation gives out awards during the game for fans that were "caught recycling" in an effort to try to curb littering? The stadium is all but falling in and there are cracks and potholes all over the concourses. Besides the 80,000 orange and blue sister screwing morons, it's covered with empty beer cans and chaw. Maybe you've never been to Allbarn, because that'd be your only excuse. It's straight up filthy.
Screaming Tiger? All up in the Kool-Aid!!

in the name of entertainment do I love to hear the witty banter betwinx the Barns and the Tide.........I guess I'm weird, my entire family is Aub. grads but my Dad tells me that a barber in Alex City (my pops home town) told me (I was 4) he'd give me a dollar if I yelled "Roll Tide" and Dad says I changed my allegiance then and there....but since my pops had season tickets I continued to go to Aubs games and as a high school BBaller I went to two Auburn basketball camps under Sonny Smith .....so to wrap I love both schools dearly and lean twd the Tide when they come together.....I think Auburn is a quinessential idealistic southern college football town and campus and Bama/Tusc is not so much that but a smaller metropolis containing a nice southern college with some aspects of what Auburn has, more of Bamas beauty is the campus while more of Auburns beauty is the town

Our campus is the best looking in the South with the exception of Duke IMO.
I still don't get the love about the look of the town of Auburn. Most of it looks like it has been thrown up over night or was built in the 60's and 70's. Samford Hall is nice, but that's about it.

they are refacing many of the buildings and are constructing/ have constructed several new buildings in the past couple of years. there are a couple of buildings that don't look as nice, but as I said they are being replaced.

um i wouldn't talk too much smack. a lot of the buildings at Alabama are freaking ancient. the new buildings are really nice, but a lot of the old buildings are in piss-poor conditions.

New, old...there's no comparison. Bama's much more scenic and historical. RTR!
