Dan Hawkins (sp?) of Boise State takes over the Colorado job.

Thoughts?

They'll probably have to dye the grass blue for him to have any success. On a more serious note, though, he may geaux in and clean up the program (which someone will have to do), eliminate the riff-raff, do some strong recruiting to the new "clean cut" Colorado football program, and who knows, he may get them going. It's going to take a few years, however.

I don't think that he will have the same success there that he did at BSU. Wait a minute, did I just say BSU

I don't think Hawkins will win a Big 12 title during his tenure at CU, if he does it'll be a situation like 2001 (messed up). That being said, CU should be a perennial 10-2/9-3 team during his tenure (sans the first year). I really think he's a good coach, and he doesn't neccassarily have to stick to one philosophy, and those are always the best coaches, the ones who can adjust (isn't that true for most aspects of life?). During the Ryan Dinwiddie (sp?) days of 4 and 5 years ago, BSU was a passing team and the QB would routinely put up 32 TDs threw the air and a ton of yards. Well since 2003 with Zabransky at QB, they've adjusted and become a running team, it played to the strengths of the bigger OL, better RBs, and the strength of the QB, and they were very successful during that time as well. That speaks volumes about the coach. What's funny is that Dirk Koetter (former BSU, current Iowa) head coach is the same way. 2002 with Brad Banks they ran the QB and relied on the RB to win games, 2004 Drew Tate threw it around. I expect good things, but most importantly for Colorado, I expect a clean, well-coached program. This does make the Big 12 better, not worse, that is for sure....

yeah, his first priority is to get the stench out of that program. May take a while....but the north is still very weak. Execept for Nebraska (and maybe if the Fighting Manginos get a bit better), I think they have a pretty clear path to the north title, imo.

Dirk Koetter was 26-10 at BSU with two 10 win seasons.

He has been 32-28 at ASU......

I would put ASU in the same league with CU.

ah, yeah, I like BSU, and I think Hawkins will have a perennial 9-10 win team with a 12 game schedule, and I think Colorado can deal with that, especially since it'll be a clean program....
