Statistics released by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals suggest that fewer than half of the victims of Hurricane Katrina were black, and that whites died at the highest rate of all races in New Orleans.

I doubt we will hear an apology from the left. :(

Of course most of the victims of Hurricane Katrina were white, black people aren't even the largest minority in the country. Hurrican Katrina hit Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi, so that statistic is only indiciative of the hurricane's full scope, not just the worst hit area.

Oh and by the way, blacks were still by far the majority of the deaths in New Orleans, all this article says is that for the small number of white people in New Orleans a lot of them died, it is in not way stating that there were more actual white casualties.

...nor from the right for their suggestion that the supposedly inordinate number of black victims was directly caused by the welfare system.

The article and statistics focused on New Orleans and Louisiana. So you understand, many black leaders, entertainers and politicians, even network television anchors expressed views that if the victims were white, more would have been done. Everyone along the Gulf Coast was a victim. But is was a "national tragedy or disgrace" because it was perceived blacks were victimized more and the "white" establishment could have done more. Hogwash.

The article has a catchy title, but look closely at the wording. It does not specify where the statistic that "more wite people were effected" came from, I garuntee you that there were an exponentially larger number or whites affected, but not in NO.

Look at the other titles of the news stories on that page and then consider your source. Cybercast News Source...be careful what you read.
