Earlier tonight on the Fox 13 News Van Stumon, the #1 linebacker in the State, made his commitment to Arkansas over Purdue. This is a really big pickup. Stumon kinda got lost in all the hoopla that is the Springdale 5 but he is probably the best all-around defensive player in the state. He played defensive end and running back for North Little Rock....the guy is big and fast and will probably be a strong candidate to start next year alongside Fairchild and Olajubutu....thats as fiersome a linebacking corp since Caleb Miller and Tony Bua roamed the defense. Stumon is a prototypical SEC linebacker...fast....and good size: 6'2" 238lbs. and 4.6. He's a four star recruit by rivals.com for those of you that trust these sites (I, however, do not). He is the third 4 star recruit the hogs have gotten along with OL Jim Hart (6'6" 300, Pocahontas) and DT Freddie Barnett (6'1" 300, 5.0; Texarkana).
Malcolm Sheppard also decided to commit to the Hogs today. Sheppard is a defensive end from Georgia. He has yet to be ranked by Rivals. He's 6'3" 247 and will add depth to the defensive end spots behind Desmond Sims and Jamaal Anderson...I don't know what Anthony Brown is gonna do next year...possibly move back to WR because when he was injured Anderson really played better than Brown and Sims.
The report from Rivals.com is that Notre Dame has backed off recruitment of Mitch Mustain. Rumors were circulating that Mustain had already committed to Notre Dame....obviously that ain't the case. It looks to be a two team race between Arkansas and Tennessee.....I think in reality it comes down to who does Mustain want to play for more: his highschool coach and new Arkansas OC, Gus Malzahn, or Tennessee's new/old OC, David Cutcliffe.

I don't think your high school coach developed you into the #1 QB in the country either....

I guess it depends on who you ask. If you ask Gatorade...they say Mustain as they recently voted him the Gatorade National Player of the Year. Parade named Mustain as a finalist for the National Player of the Year award. According to Scout.com...Mustain is the #1 Quarterback in the Country.

Can't stand Scout.com and they are always wrong. Matthew Stafford(UGA commit) is THE #1 QB in the country.

While you didn't necessarily rebut anything I said except to say that you think Rivals is better than Scout (not the strongest argument I've ever heard....in fact I don't even think it is an argument) I hate all recruiting services as they are a business and not objective and I find that they are wrong more than they are right.....I've personally seen Mustain play....he's definitely the real deal and there is not very much of a chance of him being a bust.

Wrong...YOUR opinion is based on which service you think is better. My opinion is based on personal observations and the fact that he's on the news around here more than the President.

He's probably on the news more because he is one of the top recruit ( not the the recruit) in the country and Arkansas has a great shot at getting him, so it's obvious he is going to get more publicity that the President. I won't say anything bad about the President.

Today....Mustain was selected as Parade's National Player of the Year. Two National Player of the Year awards and you still won't acknowledge him as the best high school quarterback in the country.

Here's a pretty funny website created by the radio hosts of a Northwest Arkansas sports station:
