It's finally over, and Meyer gets his man!!!! This should push us to #1 in the team rankings and, hopefully, start another avalanche of recruiting for us Gators.
Sorry, bama. We tried to tell ya. Anyway, thanks for making it so interesting, though. :)

Like I said before, I would be worried about the kid if he didn't go to Florida. It sounds like its been his dream to be a Gator since he was a kid. I hope he has a great career for you guys, he seems like a real classy kid.

Stafford and Cox have the better physical tools than Tereshinski. However, Tereshinski will be a 5th year senior and has game experience along with a better knowledge of the offense. It will be a good competition.

Hate to say it to all my fellow Bama fans, but looks like I was right on this one all along. :)
With the skills/talent this boy has, it just would not have made sense to pick a school (Bama) where he would have had 2-3 other good QBs to compete against. Sure they might not have the rating he has, but they've already had a year or two in Shula's system now. At UF he'll likely sit out a year and then be up and ready to take over as starter by his 2nd year of school. He'll get to start a lot earlier, and have the playing time needed to really break some records while he's there if he's as good at the college level as he is right now in high school.

I think way too much has been made about this guy. I am not doubting Teebow's ability nor am I saying he wasnt a great pick up for UF. But there are lots of GREAT highschool players that are supposed to be the second coming that dont amount to squat. This guy hasnt even gotten to UF yet and people are already scared to play them, give me a break. He may not even play next year...it would be tough to bench a senior QB (Leak) who has played well under an entirely new system. Hell, Tebow may get hurt the second practice of the year and be done for his career, under a system like Myers where the QB will be doing lots of running and options, this is a realistic possibility. Great pick up by UF, but lets not hand the SEC crown to them just yet.

Hey! This is the best QB pick UF has had since when? Leak... He has what 11 Loses as a starter? Even Peytion couldn't beat UF when he was at UT. One player does not make or break a team.

Exactly Vol. Anyways, the best way to stop these highpowered offensive players is to have hard hitting, quick, strong defensive players...you know any good defenses in the SEC???

What a crappy thing to say...done for his career? I think the reason for all the hoopla with TT is the fact that he is the perfect fit for Meyer's system...Meyer's offense requires a QB to be big, fast and athletic...look that up in Webster's and you'll see a pic of TT....he's an option style QB that can throw...of course, no one will know until we see him play...but it's fun to speculate.

Oh, please spare us "the QB is going to get hit" argument. If that held any water, Leak--who can't get out of his own way at times and was hit quite often this year by SEC defenses--would've been in a full-body cast at this point.
QBs get hit all the time...and most QB injuries come from getting hit in the pocket while looking downfield.
GatorHunter
12-14-2005, 06:14 PM
You hit the nail on the head GN, TT has rushed for over 1,000 yrds in each of the past 2 seasons...QBs who run the ball are more able to take a hit than pocket guys like Leak who usually get injured after being blind-sided.
blues_cap
12-14-2005, 07:16 PM
also, with modern medicine, is is damn near impossible to have a career ending injury at the age of 18. not saying it cant happen, just saying a lot can be done in the doctor's office these days.

Ok...you're right. Was that Shock that got out of the pocket evading the rush against Arky? Didn't he miss the rest of that game and the Florida game? Man, that wasnt an important loss was it? Was Shock a dual threat as well???
The whole point of my post earlier was that now that Tebow has arrived, people, and not just Florida fans, are acting like UF is the cream of the crop.
Yes Tebow is a great recruit and you are better off without him, but the strength of the SEC is defense, and unless this guy is Michael Vick, he wont win you games all by himself.
And for the record, I wasnt wishing Tebow bad luck, I hope he plays healthy his entire career.

i think most gator fans know he is not the savior to the program. us gator fans are excited that he is able to add a dimension to meyer's system that the gators havent been able to use yet, thus making them more balanced, and you guessed it, more dangerous.
also, along with the huge improvement on defense from one year ago, it looks as if florida is once again able to run with the sec's elite(been down for a couple, if you havent heard). just excited, so please dont piss on our campfire, it stinks.

Ummm, I don't know what kind of credibility Tom Lemming has but I found this on CSTV.com just a few moments ago. This was a piece of a transcript of a chat that took place yesterday afternoon. Does anyone know what he is saying with this? I think he is either very late with this assumption/news or clueless on what has happened recently.
Steve (Columbia): Is Mustain coming to play for Spurrier now? Please say yes!
Tom Lemming: Right now Mitch is undecided. South Carolina just received a very good QB commitment in Chris Smelley of Tuscaloosa. However, with Tebow going to Florida, Alabama may show renewed interest in Smelley. If that happens, the door may open wider for Tebow at South Carolina.

Here is how I see the Stafford vs. Tebow debate:
Tebow is the best QB in the country suited to run Meyer's offense. So, Tim Tebow is the #1 QB in the country for Florida because of his dual threat abilities. Stafford is the better pure passer but Stafford doesn't have the scrambling ability of Tebow. With that said, Tebow is no slouch when it comes to passing the ball. As much as I hate this kid (only because he is a Gator ;) ), I am very impressed with him. Watching that ESPN piece, I really like his enthusiasm for the game. My only knock on him is his emotion. Emotions like he has in a QB can be good or bad. I actually respect a guy who can cry like that after a loss. I can relate to that. However, I really like the calm, cool, and collected approach of a Matthew Stafford. Nothing phases him.
Which brings me to Mr. Stafford. Stafford is exactly what UGA wants in a QB. A pure pocket passer with pretty good pocket mobility.
The way I see it, UGA signed the best QB in the country for their offense and Florida signed the best QB in the country for their offense.
Should be fun watching these 2 square off in Jacksonville.

i would think he may of meant to say, "the door may open wider for mustain at south carolina." usc wasn' in the running for tebow. just a grammatical error, nothing more.
