Arkansas loses nobody really.
On defense we lose SS Vickiel Vaughn and OLB Pierre Brown...both had sub-par seasons. On offense we lose FB Brandon Kennedy, this is a big loss cause he led the way for a lot of great running backs, and C Kyle Roper, big loss but we will fill that hole with All-Freshman Jonathan Luigs who played the position the last three games of the season with Roper out.

We ought to be okay with a little help from recruiting. Big question mark is the coaches. Who will leave (rumors are that Jimbo Fisher and Bo Pelini may leave) plus others. I would dearly love to see Miles leave of his own choice (maybe he would feel more comfortable back in the Big 12 at Colorado??) and let us geaux for someone who can coach well in the SEC. My choice, of course, is the notorious Mike Price; a helluva party guy, but an excellent coach!

Unless you can figure out a way to get the hookers back in NO, there is no way that Price will take that job. I'd try again in a year or two though.

QB- none
RB- none
FB- Jake Slaughter. Will be missed, but we don't really use the fullback much anymore
WR- Anthony Mix, Devin Aromashodu, Ben Obomanu. Lose three great ones, but still have Courtney Taylor, Prechae Rodriguez, and a lot of great recruits over the past two years.
TE- Cooper Wallace. Tommy Trott will do great at receiving, just hope he can improve his blocking to Wallace's level
OL- We lose Troy Reddick and Marcus McNeil. Ouch. These two guys are going to be missed, but we have two guys that are very talented behind them in Leon Hart and King Dunlap. Dunlap has been getting some playing time at both tackle spots the past two years, and Leon Hart won SEC offensive lineman of the week in his first start this year against Kentucky. We also lose backup C Steven Ross.
DT- Lose TJ Jackson and Wayne Dickens. We have Josh Thompson who is the strongest guy on the team, Tez Doolittle, and JUCO 5-star DT Greg Smith to fill in for them. I hope they will be able to stop the run like Jackson.
DE- none
CB- none, David Irons should get another year of eligibility
S- none
K/P- none

Offense
QB-Brodie Croyle (i've been off the croyle bandwagon the second half of the season)
C-Taylo Britt uhhhh so
RT Mark Sanders this one hurts
heres where it gets ugly
defense
LDT-Rudy Griffin (they should make a movie about this guy)
RDE-Mark Anderson
MLB-Freddie Roach-DAMN :(
SLB-Demeco Ryans-DOUBLE DOG DAMN
RCB-Anthony Madison
FS-Roman Harper
SS-Charlie Peprah
special teams
P-Jeremy Schatz
PK-Ryan Saxby
H-Matt Miller
SN-Drew Lane
PR-Brandon Brooks
but on a good note although we lose the most talent on d thats where we have the most quality talented depth. most down to third string have seen signifigant playing time

RB- Gerald Riggs Jr. Definantly a big loss, but I think Foster can fill his shoes.
FB- Noone. Still have Cory Anderson.
QB- Rick Clausen. (may be one of our biggest problems if Ainge doesn't recover from his "sophmore slump."
OT- Albert Toeaina. Kinda glad hes gone, he was good, but he was trouble.
OG- Cody Douglas
C- Richie Gandy
WRs- Chris Hannon, C.J. Fayton
DE- Parys Harelson. Tough Loss here.
DT- Jessee Mahelona. Another tough loss. Him and Parys really was our anchor for the D. Also, our Jr. DT Justin Harrell might leave for the NFL. But I hope not, we're fairly weak in this position.
DE- Jason Hall.
SLB- Omar Gaither
MLB- Kevin Simon
WLB Jason Mitchell Notice that our starting LB core is getting wiped out.
CB- Jason Allen. Another key loss. But acually, I think we did fairly well with our freshman and softmore DBs filling his shoes.
Overall, we're loosing 7 on Defense and 7 on Offense, give or take for rotation.

There is also the possibility that Rob Smith and Arron Sears could leave early. Smith, in particular, is pissed that we got rid of his position coach. We have recruited well over the last few years and hopefully we can get some momentum going in that area this year as well. At least, we will have better coaches to get the guys that remain ready to play in this league.

Ya. I don't know how any player would want to end a season on one like last year's. I'd be angry for myself and my team for last season, and wanna come back and earn back their respect again.
And yes, I'm sure Cut will be a nice little boost to our motivation and definantly recruiting, because I'm sure its gunna hurt this year.

I've heard that if he projects in the second round he's gone. With his talent, he should stick around. He could be a definate first rounder with another year under his belt. Of course as a Gamecock's fan, I would love to see him go. :D

For possible drafts....
Offense
Croyle will go, but maybe not until at least late 2nd or early 3rd round.
Mark Sanders likely in a later round.
Defense
DeMeco Ryans early in 1st round.
Freddie Roach / Roman Harper late 1st or early 2nd round.
Any of the following defensive players could go anwhere from the late 2nd to the end of the draft:
Charlie Peprah, Rudy Griffin, Mark Anderson, Anthony Madison
I think any or all of these players have a shot of at least going at some point in the draft this year. As for the defense next year, I don't have TOO much of a worry there. There are a lot of guys who have been working with these upperclassmen a lot, and will be able to fill the starting slots really well. With one of the best defensive minds in college football IMO (Joe Kines) in charge of them, I don't have any doubt they can remain in the top 10 defenses in the country next year.

Cooper Wallace possibly 5th-7th round

i'm thinking after demeco, mark anderson will be the second Bama player drafted this year.
Looked around a little this morning, and saw that most of the draft predictions have the order as Ryans, Harper, Croyle, Anderson for Alabama players in the Top 100 of the draft. With Ryans being the only really high prediction (Top 15 on most sites).

The Gators lose:
OL: Degory, Hand, Washington..and one other...sorry, can't rem. name.
That's it for Offense...lose 3 OL that start...even though they haven't been the best this year, I will miss big ole Degory.....on Defense, the Gators lose:
LB: McCullough
DL: Mincey
DB: Herring and Brown
*McCullogh was about to be replaced by Demps, a freshman, until Demp was injured...so no real loss there. Mincey will hurt...he is an awesome player, Brown was undersized but had a big heart...and Herring is a great run stopper...not to good against the pass. These players are good players, but definately expendable.
I do expect Jackson and Webb to leave early for the NFL...that should be the only ones. Jackson is a great receiver, but Caldwell will be back and he's better. As far a Webb, I don't know why this guy gets so many accolades...he isn't that good.

As far as I know Arkansas is not losing any quality players, and they played pretty well the second half of the season. They seem to have found a pretty good QB to go with their exceptional running game. With the experience their freshman QB (Dick) got during the second half of the season, and the way he performed, Arkansas should have a pretty balanced attack next year. Their defense should also be pretty decent. I wouldn't be surprised to see them finish in the upper half of the West next year. The only concern should be their coaching situation and how that pans out.

My exact words were "Croyle will go, but maybe not until at least late 2nd or early 3rd round." With the key words being at least.
Some sites still have him as early as the beginning of the 2nd round, but I just don't buy that. Personally, I'm pretty confident in saying it will be at earliest 4th round.

He went in the 2nd round in my Madden franchise draft if that helps any. ;)

Not flaming Croyle, Jordan...just have been listening to Finebaum...he's the only sports show on when I'm leaving work...live 20 miles south of Dothan...anyway, a lot of Bama fans seem to think he is looking to be a free agent.

I would wait and see how he does at the combine or is he playing in any post season all star games or anything like that.
His OL really affected his play this season. He was throwing off of his back foot A LOT.
Injury concerns could also have a major affect/effect (not sure which one is correct) on his draft status.

He's of course got the Cotton Bowl. And also the Senior Bowl will be coming up at the end of January which he'll be in.
From comments I've read this season from NFL scouts, most that have been asked the question have stated that they do not have injury concerns with Croyle. It's not that I think Croyle wouldn't be a decent NFL QB, just that I don't think he'll be drafted as high as some of the projections. With the right QB coach and some good WRs, he could turn out to do well in the pros. There's been plenty of non-top QB draftees that have turned out very well in the past.

i don't think that croyle has the size that the NFL scouts look for these days. The one thing Croyle does have going for him is there aren't too many great QB's going into this year's draft. I could see him going in the 4th or later though. still has a lot of skills, just isn't the prototypical size, and the NFL teams don't like taking chances on small QB's unless they have something special about them (Mike Vick).

We'll see.... I really don't know what to expect from the draft for him though. He had lots of scouts still interested leading into the season and even towards the end of the season. But things change. :)

croyle isn't that short...he's 6'3. brett favre is 6'2, tom brady is 6'4, peyton is 6'5, eli's 6'4. all he needs is to bulk up in weight, people have seen that he can take licks. he has a very strong arm to make up for his deficiencies but still lacks the touch on his passes.
i have no idea if he'll get drafted, but he's playing in the senior bowl to showcase his talents.

When I said size by NFL standards I meant they like 6-5 230. I always thought Brodie was 6-2 200 lbs, which is probably right cause you can never tell with those media guides. If he can put on 20 pounds, that would make him more durable in the scouts eyes. He has a strong arm, lacks the touch, but he also lacks the mobility, which is something that the smaller qb's in the NFL have like Favre, Vick, Plummer who can move outside the pocket to see past the big offensive linemen.
nooneLT
12-09-2005, 09:37 AM
croyle is actually very mobile for a white guy (haha) his teammates nicknamed him vanilla vick cause even though he knows he's not fast he'll drop down and run it. if you're thinking of this year's iron bowl, yeah, he didn't even make it out of the pocket. but i agree with you, if he bulks up how he did in the last offseason he could definetly be an NFL quarterback (he usually weighs 180-185, then went up to 205 before this season)
