Go Tigers!! I got money on this game :P

Holy crap! it was fumbled on the kickoff and almost recovered by LSU. And an LSU player is down

7-0 Georgia. And, Georgia picked off Russell, 3rd and 3 at LSU's 45.

The non-fumble..."forward progress was stopped" call is some bullshit. Unbelievable...is this the Auburn game again???

Djshockley3

hmsdawgs
12-03-2005, 06:02 PM
That makes 3 calls LSU has gotten...I'm not very happy. Can we get 1 call please!!!???

Disclaimer...I have been drinking heavily the last 4 hours of the day...if I say anything offensive, I apologize early. Sorry.

Djshockley3

I know,it shouldn't be 14-7.

OmahaBound
12-03-2005, 06:06 PM
I would just like to say that I never realized that LSU's fight song is basically a remix of Clemson's fight song. (Lsu was probably first....it's not really the point). Therefore, I can never root for LSU again. I'm sorry Geaux...it's nothing personal. But a) Tigers, b) Death Valley, and now c) just about the same damn song....it's just too much for this Gamecock to take!

As far as the game is concerned....yeah the call was BS, but Georgia still had plenty of time to stop them. Like DJ said, it was just a very solid drive after that one play. I need the Dawgs to win this one though just so I can have some hope for a Peach invite.

On a sidenote, anyone questioning Texas as a top 2 team after today? That was quite a beatdown. If we play Colorado hopefully we can add some to their humilation.

Jamarcus Russell is out of the game with a seperated shoulder. I don't think LSU can come back from this kind of deficit without him. It looks like Georgia will be taking home the SEC Championship this year.

Man O Man! How bout them DAWGS! Still not done yet. LSU can, and has, come back before. It's 24-7 going into the 4th. (Everyone hold up 4 for the DAWGS). Just got word that Russell's got a seperated shoulder. Here we go boys and girls! Hunker down ALL you hairy DAWGS.

Congratulations to a great Georgia team! D. J. Shockley was magnificent, and the Dawgs were clearly the best team. We were beaten soundly.

Only flaw for UGA:
Richt playing his first stringers right up until the end with a 34-14 lead with two minutes to go... unclassy, especially for a guy like Richt whom I've always thought of as one of the classiest of coaches. Could have gotten some good players injured, like Max getting hurt right at the end. You would expect that from Tubby, but not from Richt. Tubby, though, would probably kick the field goal with 30+ seconds to geaux.

I can't really explain that either. But really Geaux, its DJ's last SEC game. His family was in the stands, it isn't like we were throwing the ball or something. Now unclassy is all the personal foul calls you guys got.And no offense, but Les Miles is a major jerk off. :D

No, kicking a field goal on fourth and five would have been unclassy. Instead, Richt went for it knowing that it would turn the ball over without just laying down. At what point would you have suggested putting in the back ups? This team was about seniors, and it's not like they piled it on.

Well, with a big bowl game yet to come, I don't think I would have chanced getting any of them injured with two or three minutes left to go. The seniors still get to play in the Sugar Bowl. Not a big deal, though... just a thought. I wonder if it would have been more to Richt's credit to give his backups some time in such a memorable game. It would probably have made him look even classier before a nationwide audience.

You gotta give it LSU, they're going to be around for awhile. And what a year they had. I know people say that they should win because they have the athletes, but look at the Vols. It's not always that easy. And I stil can't believe Miles regrouped to win the games he did after those first two games.

Outstanding job by the Dawgs! Congrats to DJ, Colonel Kurtz and the rest of the UGA reps on the board. I know that this has to be soooo sweet considering you guys got little mention in the preseason. That's a good point, but with LSU, I didn't feel good about the game until about two minutes left. Hell, the onside kick made me nervous. I know the Dawgs D went into "bend, don't break" mode, but that Flynn looked impressive.

Ya, definitely. Sticking with Georgia all the way up to his junior year behind Green, then winning the SECC on his first starting season. Diffinantly SEC player of the year. Runners up would be maybe some of the LSU players because of the advertisity they had to face.

Many in Baton Rouge think that LSU was not well prepared for the Championship Game; another coaching blackmark against Les Miles and his staff. Here's a good quote from Scott Rabalais, a local sportswriter, who feels that the Tigers were just plain overrated:

"It was a string of razor-thin victories -- Arizona State, Florida, Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas -- that got the Tigers here. Games that the Tigers sometimes seemed to win in spite of themselves.

There was none of that Saturday. Georgia was dominant, but LSU couldn't seem to try to help the Bulldogs beat them fast enough."

There are some definite coaching problems with the new coaches in the SEC this year, but I fear in final analysis LSU's might be the worst. I'm not really sure whether Miles can get the job done. He obviously did not have his team prepared for the biggest game of the year, the SEC Championship Game. And I do not mean, in any way, to negate the outstanding play of the Georgia Bulldogs. They are an outstanding football team and they were ready. LSU definitely was not ready.

As far as being overrated, I'd agree with Rabalais. We were rated #3 going into the LSU game, only because we were undefeated still. Because LSU was the first team to defeat us, you jumped the other 1-loss teams in rankings. Does that make LSU a better team than all of those other 1-loss teams? Not necessarily. But that's what happens when human opinion is involved in things.

I'm not saying LSU is a bad team by any means, as you guys are far from that. Just that like us in the LSU game, last night's SECCG proved that you are not the #3 team in the nation.

We ought to have some very good SEC representation in the post-season this year.

I am still scracting my head wondering why LSU hired Les Miles. The only thing he ever did at Oklahoma St. was beat Oklahoma a couple of times. Wasn't his record at Oklahoma State like 28-28?

With all of the talent that LSU already had, all of the high school talent in the state of Louisiana (not to mention being able to recruit neighboring states like Texas and Mississippi), and the amount of support for LSU football I still think they could have hired an awesome coach.

It was obvious last night that LSU wasn't ready to play. I blame that all on Miles. How could you not have this team ready to play? It is the SEC Championship. LSU was ranked #3 in the country. They were playing for the state of Louisiana and everything that state has been through. I just don't get it.

Also, those hats the Miles wears on the sideline make him look like a goof.

With all that said, I still have a great respect for LSU. Their fans are crazy loud. It was embarassing before the game. When the Golden Band from Tigerland strikes up in pregame they go into a deafening frenzy. I wish Georgia fans were that loud. However, I must say that from where I sat (student section behind the goalpost) it sounded like we had the Dome rocking. May have been because of the students though, I'm not sure.

In my opinion, UGA and LSU are the class of the SEC this half-decade. No offense Auburn, you have had a great 2 year run, but Georgia and LSU have dominated the SEC this millenium. UGA and LSU have taken home 4 of the past 5 SEC Championships. LSU won a National Championship in 2003. I hope it stays this way.

Go Dawgs!

It's weird... the one year we win the battle against Florida we lose the war and fail to make the SECCG. The years we make it to Atlanta, we lost some battles along the way but usually win the war. I gotta tell ya, in the longrun the latter feels just a wee bit better than beating UF, after all we don't get any trophies, rings or BCS berths for that!

Yea - but damn it sucks to lose to FLORIDA every year!!!

i bet they would like to trade some of thoose victories over us, for a chance to play in the championship game.

The Mark Richt ERA is fabulous.

I certainly can't disagree! You're right on target.

How does this put the East>West stuff to rest?

The West is obviously stronger this year. Auburn is probably the best team in the SEC and LSU/BAMA are both better than Florida and Tennessee. Georgia is the only real good team from the East this year. Florida has made some strides late into the season, and Bama faltered late but that still doesn't make up for the disparity between the two divisions.

Easy: uga was best in the east; less-U was the best in the west.....

I never disputed that Georgia won the Championship game as that would be stupid. It is also stupid to assume that the division which wins the championship is also the strongest division. :p

Well, we should have beaten Auburn then. We had 2 fumbles inside our own 20 that led to 14 Auburn points. Even after that it took a busted coverage by a player with a concussion for them to win.

The bottom line, Georgia will add another SEC Championship flag to their stadium and Auburn won't.

Alright, enough bickering.

Early bowl predictions:
Auburn 37, Wisconsin 9 (or do they HAVE a field goal kicker?)
Florida 21, Iowa(s) 3
Bama 31, T Tech 30 (gonna have to score A LOT to beat them)
LSU 17 Miami 10 (that's with or without Jamarcus)
So Carolina 41, Mizzou 28 (Spurrier finally unleashes, Brad Smith fades into Big 12 North oblivion forever)
Georgia 14, W VA 13 (I fear this one will be the closest of all)

That's 6-0. And no more of this "SEC is d....is D...." I just can't say it.

Vols will be back - book it. Shula's bringing back the magic. Spurrier is already winning with very little - he'll get more. Tuberville obviously isn't going away. Meyer and Miles get it. The Hogs are lurking and waiting to pounce. Croom is turning it around. Can anybody really doubt this conference top to bottom?

Jordan... I think your D may score some points in this one. Your secondary should grab some interceptions and your bone-jarring tacklers should knock the ball out a few times. I don't think there is any way those boys from TT can stay with Bama physically or speed-wise.

Ridiculous assertion, for Richt was honoring the first teamers by letting them play and experiencing the winning of this Championship by being on the field at the end, something which cannot be possible if they are on the sideline. If he wished to RUTS, there was ample opportunity to keep calling the plays which could have led to more scores, but it was obvious that was not his intent. By letting Shock & the others finish what they began, he paid them the highest honor a HC can bestow.

Richt didn't disrespect LSU one iota, as I didn't see Miles empty his bench either.....

I can sure understand that, but it's a choice that can have dire consequences. Remember, Max did get injured in those last two minutes; fortunately, not seriously. But what if??? You see what I mean?

I can sure understand that, but it's a choice that can have dire consequences. Remember, Max did get injured in those last two minutes; fortunately, not seriously. But what if??? You see what I mean?

Upon review of game participation, Richt tried to get every Senior on the team on the field who was able to play for a few plays. Twelve Seniors start and there are 23 listed on the roster, leaving 11 reserves and scout teamers. Richt got 9/11 in the game and also played 64 guys vs. 49 for Miles and LSU....

The Dawgs have endured injuries all season just like everybody else and they happen without warning and despite the best efforts to prevent them. When UGA's Jennings got the pic 6, the game was over. Though DJ stayed in, all of the backup WR's and OL got snaps as units just as did the Defensive rotations. Richt has always played lots of guys and did so in the SECCG, your argument is impressing me as poorly framed grousing which has no basis whatsoever.

If Richt had inserted JT3 in at QB, you could have said he was running up the score as he would have been told to run the Offense. Letting DJ have every snap was repayment of Shock's devotion to the team, along with all the other starters and that they were not given the plays to increase the score the greatest form of showing respect. As evidenced by LSU's onside kick after the backups let Flynn lead y'all to a score, Miles hadn't thrown in the towel and Richt was thus not obligated to throttle things back when putting the #1 D back in to nuke that next to last drive. Stranger things have happened with 5:38 of gametime left....

You say this about the decade but the best SEC record among all teams does not belong to LSU nor Georgia nor Florida nor Tenn. since 2000.

From 2000 thru current:
Auburn is 4-2 versus Georgia
Auburn versus 3-3 versus LSU

add to that, Auburn currently has beaten Tenn. three times in a row and Alabama 4 straight times.
'
Other then Florida who does that leave out of the SEC big boys?

Now on to your millenium statement. Auburn owns the all-time series record versus Georgia and looking at All-time wins as a D-1A team.

Georgia is 11th in the nation.
LSU is 13th.
Auburn is 14th.

Congrats on your SEC Championship....

And here we have an excellent demonstration of why you aubies are easier than a drunk sorority gal: THIS DECADE began at 00:00:01 on 1/1/2001!!!!

Yea, y'all eeeked out the W in Athens but don't make more of it that it was YET UGA defeated BOTH the teams which beat Auburn didn't we???????? And we earned the Ring and the Trophy which makes us the Champs. Hardware trumps mouthware everytime!

THIS decade, Auburn is TIED with LSU & UGA in possessing the best SEC record at 30-10. This First Half of the Decade ends with LSU & UGA possessing TWO SEC Titles each and Auburn ONE. I'd be darned happy if I was an Aubie, y'all can hold your heads up just as high as anyone given the accomplishments of your program but lose this inspid nonsensical tact, nobody with a sentilla of sense doesn't hold the utmost respect for AU and for its future prospects.

I'll even go a step further by stating that it would be absolutely no surprise to me at all if Auburn didn't win several more SEC Titles over the 2nd half of this decade, beginning as soon as next season.

Auburn will be my pic going into next season and it might not even be a close race, for both Bama & LSU suffer immense graduation losses in the West. In the East, UGA loses a ton as does UT, so the Gators and Cocks might have the most intact returning teams, but neither at the level of what Auburn does. Folks around the Country were saying the SEC was down this season, well I got news for 'em, it will be really down next year BUT it will have one team which will be damned scary: Auburn.
