I don't know about anyone else, but I can't wait until Monday night! Our new motion offense has looked great this far. Any predictions?

Man, I'm not informed enough to make an accurate prediction, so I'll refrain. Last night was exactly what you want from an opener. Most points in the Heath era. Jefferson 15 assists? That's ridiculous. Maybe Dontell has turned a corner. Modica, Brewer and Townes were outstanding as expected, but I'll tell you what, Charles Thomas has seriously improved. He can score. We'll need him for sure. If he can step it up, I think our frontcourt rivals Alabama's.

As for Maui, I can't wait either. Even if we lose our first two against UCONN (#3) and Arizona (in top 10) or Kansas, this is going to be a good experience for our team. Definitely an early-season guage to let us know exactly where we're at. Honestly, UCONN and Arizona will be the best two teams we play until/IF!!! we get into the dance and make a run. I'm hoping that we can play with them and I'm confident we can if we're clicking. I think having three guys like Brewer, Modica and Townes will give us a chance in any game against any team. Hopefully we'll pull a Florida. BTW, great way to start things off Florida. I must admit, I too was under the impression that the Gators would be challenged by Vandy, the Cocks and UT - and they still may be - but after two wins over top 25 teams, I think it's clear that Billy D's boys don't have any plans to play second fiddle to anyone but Kentucky. But it's early and in all honesty, you can't really read too much into these early games either way. But that's a great sign for Florida and a good performance against UCONN and/or Arizona/Kansas would be a good sign for us. Warning: We took Illinios to the final minute last year. It didn't bode well for us the rest of the way. I'm excited about Maui though, I just hope we play well. We could really send a message - like the Gators did - to the nation that we're for real if we can win some games there. Go Hogs! Hope we don't get whooped.

I think this is our year to turn around!

There is no doubt that this year is our year to turn it around. Well Stan Heath better be thinking that this is the year. Even after all that Heath has went through since coming the Arkansas, I have still supported Heath and thought that he would get things together. Just hoping that this year is the year he does. Monday night we need to show we what are made of.

Did ya'll read Scott Cain's ADG article today? Man, I didn't realize how loaded this field is. Lute Olson called this early-season tourney the "best I've ever seen". Six projected first rounders will be on hand and nine draft picks total (according to NBAdraft.net). BTW, they had Brewer going No.6 and listed as the second best player in the tourney to UCONN's Rudy Gay. Six of the past 12 national champions are in this field in (UCONN, Maryland, Michigan State, Arkansas and Arizona. UConn's won 2). Seven of the eight teams made Street and Smith's Top 100 programs of all-time list in Kansas (4), Arkansas (8), UCONN (9), Arizona (14), Mich. St. (25), Maryland (35) and Gonzaga (89).

I can't wait for this to get underway. Even if we lose, the experience we'll gain in Maui will be priceless. I wish I was there :)

We are picking it up a little. Our D is putting some pressure on. 30-22 and chipping away.

4 point game...finally we are going down low to Townes. Wow Brewer is too much!

Yet another nice baby hook from Hill!

WooHawg

Mama always told Hill, "If you are gonna foul, put them on the court".

jbuzbee
11-22-2005, 12:08 AM
Hill is terrible. Three fouls and he's been out of position numerous times on defense. He follows the cutter too much and leaves his man. Worst player on the court...bar none.

jbuzbee
11-22-2005, 12:09 AM
We don't have anyone that can make a wide open shot......no one. Brewer can't make 'em....neither can Ferguson. This is going to be yet another long season.

jbuzbee
11-22-2005, 12:09 AM
We will lose this game by double digits.

WooHawg
11-22-2005, 12:16 AM
hmm this is getting pathetic. No hustle back down the court, blowing what wide open shots we have, Townes playing soft.

jbuzbee
11-22-2005, 12:25 AM
Like I said...you remember Woo....Hill sucks. This team makes me cry. I don't think I can make it through another season like last year. It looks like we are on pace for another wonderous 17 win season.

jbuzbee
11-22-2005, 12:29 AM
I know, I know...Hill has hit a couple shots, but come on. The guy has been runnin around like a chicken with its head cut off. Here's how I see it:
Modica: turns it over too much playing out of control.
Ferguson: shooter who can't hit shots.
Townes: baby...cries a lot.
Brewer: minimal outside shot....doesn't play hard all the time.
Hill: you know....

Will someone please make a wide open shot??

WooHawg
11-22-2005, 12:31 AM
We are making a little run here. Townes needs to get his crap together and just take it to the basket. We should totally dominate rebounding. Hill still seems somewhat apprehensive. I agree, Modica just gets out of control. Feed off Brewer and just make it happen guys!

Hill with the trash bucket! Within 3!

I was hoping that Thomas would be more involved, but after that last shot he took.....

Dontell Jefferson has been the only player that I can see has markedly improved. He has really impressed me this game with his nice passes and ability to make a shot when he needs to. I have seen some nice passes from him too.

How many points can UConn score off the inbounds when we are just jogging down the court. Jefferson has looked good, about time as well.

jbuzbee
11-22-2005, 12:44 AM
These refs have been a little testy as well. Wonder why Sean McGurdy has only played about two minutes. Brewer has got to work on his free throws.

jbuzbee
11-22-2005, 12:46 AM
Every shot we get is a tough one...we never get them....and we can't make the easy ones. I'm distraught.

I'm going to bed. I don't want to see the last 1:22. I don't think UCONN has missed a free throw all night.

Pulled within a few at the end, just wasn't enough. Next game Kansas.

I thought we did a pretty good job overall, UCONN's frontcourt was just too much. That's where they won the game. Townes and Thomas never got going b/c of Boone, Arterie (#4) and Armstrong. Hill? Buz??? He's not improved to you. I thought losing him down the stretch was huge. Jefferson did look good. That one-handed, off-arm throwdown was sweet. There are definitely some things we'll have to improve, starting tomorrow. Overall, we hit our free throws good enough, but Brewer really missed some key ones. I think he was 6-9, but those three misses hurt. I mean it was 65-60 with 2 minutes and he misses the front end of a 1-and-1. We were destroyed on the boards. Yet we were within three points with under a minute to play.

UCONN is very, very good. I can already assure you that the Huskies are the best team we'll see this year. Once they get Williams back, I'll be sold on them as the No.1 team in the land. Rudy Gay is phenomenal. He is going to be a super-star in the NBA. All I can say is WOW. They've got an awesome team and they're super-deep. They abused us inside - everybody but Hill that is :) - but still a good performance. Brewer was terrific. I though Jefferson and Ferguson played tremendous defense all night, especially in the 2nd half. Ferguson had some awful to's though. Modica was solid. We lost b/c Townes and Thomas (8 pts combined) couldn't get it going. But that's life when you're playing against a team like that.

Overall, I'm pleased.

We need to win tomorrow. It's going to be hell to play until 1 am and then turnaround and play Kansas at 11 am, but we've got to do it. We'll match up much better with them and I forsee Townes and Thomas - especially Townes - to get going tomorrow. I think we'll win if we've got our legs. Is it on TV? I didn't hear that it was on the postgame show. It better be. Go Hogs. Beat Kansas.

We looked sloppy, I think in a few more weeks we will be a top 20 program, they just need some more real games... I think we will make the dance this year maybe Sweet 16.

I've been trying to recruit over at Hogsillustrated.com. It's a great site for Arkansas sports, I just stumbled upon this site and it grew on me. Yeah the game was very close, lead changes back and forth all the way up till 20 seconds left.

We should be ranked if we beat Maryland, imo. We're already getting votes. We've played No. 3 UCONN's ass off, beat Kansas and a victory over top 25 Maryland would probably put us in there. Who cares though? It's nice to be ranked, but honestly, I don't need anybody to tell me we're one of the 25 best. I already know.

Big win today, even though it was too close for comfort. I thought we were about to put the hammer down when we got up 8 with a/b 4 min. left. Give Kansas credit though, they've got some AWESOME freshmen and sophomores. They're gonna be hell on wheels again real soon. We should've won handily though. Ferguson's 2 bad to's allowed them to cut back to 4 and Jefferson's overthrow to Brewer on a breakaway that would've put us back up 5 hurt too. But who's complaining? Great win.

Jefferson is playing like he was supposed to last year, like the No. 1 JUCO PG in the nation. He's got serious game with mad hops to boot, plays great defense and hit a super-clutch shot in the waining seconds. Hats off to Dontell. If we get good production out of him, we should be lethal.

I was on cloud 9 today after the game. Regardless of what happens against Maryland, I'm glad we made the trip here. We've proven we're very good against UCONN and Kansas. A win over Maryland would be terrific though, so let's go ahead and get it. Regardless, good job Hogs.

Can't wait till 1pm tomorrow. Go Hogs.

Well we gave Maryland a game, but played sloppy like last year, maybe we were just tired... I still think we are going to be better than last year.
