View Full Version : Brodie Croyle

this came from the mouth of a Bama parent:
Brodie Croyle has applied for a 6th year of eligibility.
The paper work has already been filed and they expect it to be granted.
I don't know if its true or not.
However, it might explain why Jimmy Johns moved to RB and he said "no one is going to beat out Brodie". I'm pretty sure he realized this "was" Brodie's last year.
I hope its true, because with the O-Line we'll have next year, we could do some serious damage.
RTR!

i really don't see this happening either jneesy. Didn't he play 4 games last year. That is what 33%. I would expect it to be denied unless it was under 20%. But what the F do I know.

I think he's missed enough games over two years to constitute a medical redshirt.
They gave that Cox kid from Auburn one (not the same kid..the QB from like 3 years ago) a 6th year of eligibility in a similar situation.
I don't think Brodie has any intention of playing in the NFL (just a hunch). He's stated before that he wants to do the same thing that his Dad does and that's help kids.

If I remember correctly, it was stated last year, by the coaches and university, that Brodie is not eligible for a 6th year. He played in too many games last year and he has already had a redshirt, not a medical one, but a regular one.

Croyle is eligible for a 6th year but is on record as saying that he will not pursue it. RTR

Yeah, from what I've heard, I'll be surprised if he attempts to apply for a 6th year. Though, he could be doing so to have time to finish his graduate degree??
Unless his mindset has completely changed over the past several months, don't count on this rumor being true.

Well he's surely not good enough to get drafted high so he might as well beg and plead his case to play one more year.

He's actually got a good number of scouts watching him... the problem is that there are a LOT of QBs that will be entering the draft this year. You've got Leinart, Young, Cutler to name a few of the top pre-draft picks this year.

I think the world of Croyle, however, I doubt that he will be drafted, and certainly not very high. Fortunately, though, he has so many fine attributes that will allow him to become a real contributor, whether it is in pro sports or some other endeavor in life. He's got success written all over him.

Draft watch: Quarterbacks
11:03 AM CDT on Tuesday, September 27, 2005
By RICK GOSSELIN / The Dallas Morning News
The Mid-American Conference has become the cradle of quarterbacks with recent graduates Chad Pennington, Byron Leftwich and Ben Roethlisberger all moving into NFL starting lineups. There are more to come.
Four of the top quarterback prospects in the 2006 NFL draft play in the MAC: Josh Betts at Miami (Ohio), Bruce Gradkowski (Toledo), Kent Smith (Central Michigan) and Matt Bohnet (Eastern Michigan). And the best quarterback in the conference, Omar Jacobs of Bowling Green, could possibly join them if he decides to skip his senior season.
Jacobs is 6-4, 225 pounds and ranks second in the NCAA in passing this week. This after a spectacular sophomore season when he threw for 4,002 yards with 41 touchdowns and only four interceptions.

While no person is an expert, Gosselin is better than Kiper. However, that is from Sept 27 and not right now. Obviously McNeel and Whitehurst are dropping off while Croyle is going to be surrendering his spot to Cutler, Olson, and Clemens if he didn't go down with the injury.
1. Matt Leinart
2. Jay Cutler
3. Kellen Clemens
4. Drew Olson
5. Brodie Croyle
and so on.

I know earlier in the year, Croyle said he had no interest in returning.
However, with seeing his latest draft status fall (if he's considering going pro) and given the fact that he's getting a free ride to grad school right now, he may have changed his mind about returning for one last hurrah.

They don't need Leinhart. They need Bush. David Carr isn't that bad of a qb, its just the rest of his team sucks and brings him down with them.

I agree. Carr is good. He needs a running game. Chachi would make a fine 3rd stringer for the worst team in Pro football ;)
