I thought I'd post this b/c of the credibility of the source. These quotes were from Bob Holt's article in the ADG the other day on McFadden.

This is what Pat Dye, former Auburn coach who recruited and coached Bo Jackson, had to say about Darren.

"I believe that the running back at Arkansas is the best freshman running back I've seen come into this conference since Bo Jackson," Dye told Paul Finebaum on his (Finebaum) radio show. "I had no idea he was as great as he is. He's got amazing speed, he's big and he can make you miss too.
"He is an absolute war-horse. He lined up and ran for 190 yards against Georgia and it's not like weren't lining up to stop the run. I really hate to have to go against him for the next three years. Actually, I won't have to. There's no way he stays four years because he's just too good."

I've heard this stuff from fans from all sorts of SEC schools lately, but it just carries a little more weight when a guy like Pat Dye says it.

Has nothing to do with this, but I just liked these quotes right here.

UGA tackle Darrius Swain
"I don't know where he came from, but he's got to be the fastest back I've ever seen. He was tough to bring down, too. I'm not sure if we had Ray Lewis we could have stopped him."

UGA DC Willie Martinez
"I told you they were No. 1 in the league in rushing – I told you McFadden is a very good back. They're a very good offense. I'll squash you if you tell me there's a better 2-5 football team out there. They are better than teams that have winning records right now."

UGA HC Mark Richt
"One thing I will emphasize the most is how fast Arkansas is. They are probably the fastest team we'll play all year. It's intimidating to watch these guys on film."

Good quotes, at least giving us hope. Go Hogs!

Wow, that is high praise since Jamal Lewis and a few others were stout as freshmen as well. I haven't seen much of Arkansas this season, but the power vs finesse matchup with the Cocks should be a good one.

You missed one quote. After the game, Jefferson Pilot gave the player of the game award to Greg Blue. When asked about Darren McFadden Blue said that he was "incredible" and that he would "probably win the Heisman in the coming years." Thats pretty impressive considering the type of player that Greg Blue is.

Two teams with opposite styles in many ways: I'm really looking forward to this matchup and to how the two coaches prepare for the strengths and weaknesses of their respective foes.

Finesse? Ha...., yeah tell Ko Simpson, Fred Bennett, and Jonathan Joseph that they're finesse, Daccus Turman will laugh in your face as well.....

Calm down there, fellur. I meant the offenses. Sorry that i didn't specify.
Spurrier does not run a smashmouth system. I think that he would admit as much. It is a timing based offense that puts a premium on good pass blocking linemen and running draws out of 3 and 4 wide formations. Sure they have some physical players, but you aren't going to see the Cocks come out very often in two tight end sets and try to ram it down people's throats. That is not Spurrier. He wants to air it out.

That is, indeed, high praise, especially from Dye. I hope we don't wade through Alabama and Ole Miss and then get surprised by Arkansas! That would really be a bummer! Sounds like they are progressing very fast, with McFadden's assistance.

Don't worry Geaux :). I don't think, regardless of what happens in our next three games, that you'll have to worry about that :)

Fernando, you hit it on the head man. Saying USC is a finesse team certainly isn't an insult. That's just Spurrier. Arkansas and USC are two very, very different types of teams with styles at the opposite ends of the spectrum. Even though it doesn't have major implications, on weekend when there isn't really any big games in our conference, it should be interesting to watch.

Who wouldn't? that kid is an amazing back.

It'll be interesting to see how Arkansas looks next year.

Do you guys lose any o-lineman off of this year's team?

TIA!

We lose two offensive lineman that I'm aware. Zac Tubbs, who was preseason all sec, is out this year but is getting a medical redshirt, so I think we're going to return four of the five, counting Tubbs as a starter. But we need depth there bad. I think our offense is really shaping up good for the future. In two years, when Monk and Hillis and Co. are Sr's, McFadden and Jones are Jr's and Mustain is a sophomore, I expect that to be a pretty solid offense. Depth is the key word everywhere on our team. We've got a lot of young guys playing everywhere right now, and if they're not already, they'll be starters in time. Nutt's had back-to-back Top 25 classes, so if he can get one or two more, I think we could be dangerous.
