This guy wrote the column for the "tri-cities" website that [paraphrased] "Bear Bryant was the cheating-est coach in History".

He was on the Finebaum show today and Paul asked him to backup his claim.

He only had three points off the top of his to back it up. Order from strongest to weakest.

1. Bryant admitted to cheating at Texas A&M (minor stuff).

While this is a fairly strong point it does not guarantee that a coach who cheats at one job would cheat at the next.

After that point, his argument really starts to tank.

2. The NCAA investigations were a joke while he was at Texas A&M and at Alabama.

Right..so since the investigations were a joke, Bear Bryant cheated. Well with that logic that means that everyone else that ever blew a whistle, caught a pass, or called a play on a NCAA football field cheated as well. What a buffoon.

His final point:

3. "I could go into all of it, but it would take hours.".

I'll let that one stand on its own.

This guy has a law degree.

Well, whatever University he got his J.D. from ought to be embarrased that a man who is credited to be an expert in logic to a degree that he can defend or prosecute someone in court can make, PUBLISH, and go on record in the media presenting such a hole filled argument.

"Cheating-est coach in history" is a dubious title indeed.

While you are right that it does not guarantee that the coach would cheat from one job to the other, there are instances of prominent coaches doing this. Lou Holtz did it. Jackie Sherill did it. I'm sure you can name a couple too.

I'm not saying he did either one way or the other because frankly I don't care much for reading up on the Bear. Just making a point.

Besides the final point, a pretty good argument. The NCAA isnt gonna turn in a legendary coach its bad publicity, and maybe some BAMA fans paid off some officals(just a guess dont kill me please!!!!) Plus Im sure everybody commited some back then, I heard a rumor that Spurrier went to UF because the school was gonna build his dad a church!!!!!

Hancock is a credible as Finnebaum, maybe. The guy lost his ability to practive law as his liscence was suspended/revoked. There are many people in the state of Tennessee who do not care for this man. He should not be casting stones as his life has seen plenty of mistakes. I would not put any credence into anything he says.

Hahahaha. That's funny. He couldn't offer up one instance of when Bryant was at Bama.

His premis in his second point is that if you remove law enforcement, then everyone will revert back to their primitive instincts and start killing, stealing, pillaging, burning, etc.

We all know that's not true.

People don't have morals/ethics/etc because they are enforced.

People have them because they are learned and even in the lack of law enforcement, people, in general, will still obide by the "ten commandments" because of their conscience.
