Carolina-Florida Game To Be Televised by JPS
Game Time Set for 12:30 p.m. ET
Oct. 31, 2005

South Carolina's football game against Florida on Saturday, November 12, will be televised regionally by Jefferson-Pilot Sports (JPS). Game time is set for 12:30 p.m. ET at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia.

The game will feature Carolina Head Coach Steve Spurrier against his alma mater for the first time. Florida leads the all-time series, 19-3-3, including an 8-3-1 advantage in Columbia. The Gators have won each of the last 14 meetings over the Gamecocks, with USC's last win coming by a 7-0 score in 1939. Carolina has not defeated Florida since joining the Southeastern Conference. The Gators won last year's battle in "The Swamp," 48-14.

The other SEC televised games that day include LSU at Alabama on CBS at 3:30 p.m. and Auburn at Georgia on ESPN at 7:45 p.m.

I like to have gametimes mixed up from week to week and dont really wanna have two weeks of noon games. However, at least there will be a full day of great SEC games that day.

I can't believe that JP got this game. You'd think it would be picked up nationally, if for no other reason, than to play off the idea that Florida gets to beat the hell outta their old coach. I really wanted us to beat Florida in front of everyone!

It's because LSU/Bama and UGA/Auburn is on the same day. We definately don't rate better than those two matchups.

I'm definitely in the Gamecock's corner on this one. I would dearly love to see Spurs put it to the Gators. Redemption for the "send us your resume" slight.

Yeah, whatever. I personally feel Gamecock fans have been very respectful overall to Tenn. fans. Spurrier has Fulmers number this year, next year, and throughout their history.

UGA/AU and LSU/Bama in the same week.

Whew, this is shaping up to be quite the week of television for me.

Might have to pull another one of those "pull the 2nd set into the room" weekends. :)

"Spurrier" vs Florida (as it will be labeled) will be worth watching just for that reason. And then LSU@Bama in the afternoon, followed by Auburn@UGA in the evening. Wow. Those last 2 games I mentioned have the possibility of going ahead and declaring who the matchup will be for the SECCG that very night. Big weekend!

I don't know who I want on this game. I hate Spurrier and Florida equally as much. I'd say probably pull for Spurrier and the chickadees on this one because I'd love to see a GA/AL matchup Dec. 3.

Do you guys really think usc can beat the Gators? Just don't see it...UF has way too much talent and our "D" has been whoopin' some arse. Can't wait to see what SOS says about the Gators...sure it'll be hilarious...are you guys gonna wear all black like you did a few years ago...SOS had a little comment for that too...something like, "I liked it....after the first quarter, they were so quiet....you look into the stands and see all black...it was like playing in an empty stadium." Classic SOS.

Spurrier told reporters that "the Florida game could be another historical day for Carolina".

TN has, arguably, the most talent in the SEC, and look what happened there; this is a strange season in our conference. One thing's for sure: the score won't be 48-14, which has been the approximate series average for the last several years.

Rabbit Cock, not even arguably do the Vols have the most talent in the SEC. That honor is on the Bayou.

But on another note, I do believe Spurs will give the Gators all they can handle. If he wins at Arkansas, he'll have them believing that they can kick Gator Butt; and they just might do it. Spurs, just as I've always believed, is coming on strong!

If and probably when we beat Arkansas, all the pressure is off Spurrier we have 6 victories which is our goal. UF has to win this game not only for SEC title implication but also Urban has to prove to the Gator faithful that they made the right decision not to bring back Spurrier. Expect alot of trick plays and blitzing!!!!

I'm confused about your handle. If you're a Gator fan, why would you be a Gator hunter? It sounds like something a UGA or UT fan would be named...

That's what I said too.....just got married this past August, and I ended up with a 27'' sony. But it does have a flat screen, just not one of those big fancy ones. I guess I should have got my big screen before my wedding

This is a horrible time. I would have thought it would be televised nationally, especially after beating Tenn. I'm bitter, but it does mean that I will be at the bar at noon that day, since it will probably be on GamePlan.

Assert your manhood guys. I have been married 6 months now, and for the past 2 months we have been relishing in a 46" DLP TV. I can finally read the scores at the bottom of the screen on game day. I got her to committ to the TV shortly after our marriage as a gift to me, since 99% of the wedding was for her.

Hey Jordan,

Check out Circuit City. They always have sales on their HDTV sets. I got my Mitsubishi 48in Medallion 1080i HDTV brand new for 1300.00

Next on my list is an HDTV DVD player. :D

Having worked there in college, I have vowed to never step foot in another CC again. :D

I still keep up with home theater though. I've already got very nice Definitive Technologies speakers that I purchased several years ago. Just need a TV to go with 'em. I was planning on getting one before I left Circuit City with my discount, but I left on kind of short notice and didn't get the chance.

Well,

My uncle is a DM for CC and I would rather buy from them or "Tweeter" before stepping inside a Best "Ripoff" Buy. I've seen and heard some major horror stories when it comes to BB.

On another note, I have always gotten great service from CC and they will keep my business as long as they keep doing what they're doing.

My Set-up:

48 in Mitsubishi Medallion 1080i HDTV
Harmon Kardon THX Certified Surround Sound Receiver
Infinity SS Speakers
Sony Progressive Scan DVD player

I usually go to BestBuy for DVD deals when they've got a sale, but that's about it...

For A/V stuff, I prefer to stick to the local home theater vendors. A lot of the time they're able to provide some pretty good discounts over the retailers as well, and offer great local and/or in-home service compared to what I've experienced with CC and BestBuy. And a lot of them actually have ISF-certified calibration engineers on staff, or at least a discounted contract with some in a nearby area. Usually they have some very nice listening/viewing environments setup as well.... instead of the usualy "big box" atmosphere under lots of florescent lighting and other stuff you won't have when watching at home.

Anyhow.... I'll let this thread drift back to USC/Florida. :p If anyone feels like keeping this going, we can start another thread in the Water Fountain for it.

It really does work!!! Been married for 16 years now and told my wife before we got married that I watch football on Saturday, I watch football on Sunday, and I watch football on Monday night. I watch the baseball playoffs and the World Series. I watch March Madness and the NBA finals. And there are 4 golf tournaments a year that I WILL NOT MISS. Don't expect this to change!

16 years later we're still going strong. Make sure you got a pair and make the call.

oh yeah! She said I could say all that.

Tying all this together is the fact that JP Sports does not send out a HD signal for their games. Still unusual for JP to have the same team on 2 weeks in a row, even though the selections process is CBS first, EPSN second and JP Sports third.

Any predicitons on where EPSN College GameDay will be that weekend?

I'm a "Huntin' Gator".

I picked up a Polaroid 37" LCD HDTV at CC a couple of weeks ago, less that 2Gs. Man, this thing is awesome....esp. watching football in HD. I chose LCD over plasma because I like to play PS2 and plasma tvs have problems with "burn in".
