Sanders has turned it down He is out. Gone.
Look for Cut to be back, unless he takes the UK job at the end of the season. But Want some more Juicy news. Check this out. Also leaving team:
O-Line Coach
WR coach
DB coach.
Thank you USC and Steve Spurrior for being a much needed final straw!
This is seriously the happiest I've ever been about losing a game. (Although I'd still take a win)

I am coming across the same info. DB Coach Larry Slade hasn't been that bad. I think he might be leaving for health reasons. Washington and Stephens have been atrocious with season upon season of huge talent and little performance. I thought that Sanders would more than likely be demoted, but it looks like its worse than that. Anyway, I feel bad for all these guys, but for the sake of the team, we need a much better staff. Personally, I would rather bring in coaches who are foreign to our system. It is time for fresh ideas. Even though it doesn't look like there will be a complete offensive overhaul, Cutcliffe is still a big upgrade over Sanders.

! I think Cut will coach "execution" better than Sanders.
2 I think Fulmer trusts Cut enough to stay out of it a bit.
3. I think a new O-line and WR coach would have saved Randy's job if it had been done before he left. I think those two area's have been killing us this year.
4. We have had only 3 Passing TD's against us all season, 2 of those against USC. Slade was doing a pretty good job this year, but his health is causeing him to retire.
Defensively, this team is more than everyone expected, but offensively, we've imploded. I think steps are finally being taken to right the ship,m but I'll have to see the new hires and how the kids perform for them next season before I get too excited. But it is very nice to finally have Fulmer admit that there are problems with his staff, even if it is nothing more than saving his own butt...

Poor coaching causes all of that. Besides, it is very uncharacteristic for Tenn to lose 4 games a season. There was no creative play-calling against a very creative coach (as much as I hate to say it, Spurrier completely out-coached the entire Vol staff) and that is what has doomed us every game this season. Yes, there were dropped balls. There were also a lot of overthrown balls and too many shots up the middle where the SC defense knew we would be. Spurrier has seen this team before, he knew what to expect out of us. I, for one, hate to see anyone lose their job but Sanders had no business calling plays at UT when he can't do something different. This has been harped on in several other threads concerning Sanders' job. He is not a good offensive coordinator and his resignation was WAY overdue.

No offense meant .. but sense when has TN O been creative .It's been the sam bland O for decades, that depended on execution talent and timing . Those things save the talent aren't there. Not to mention Spurrier has outcoached the Vol Staff many times

No offense taken....that's exactly what I am saying. It is time to bring in new blood and new ideas. This is the same stagnant offense that has been around for years and they do nothing new. It is time to put something new, a spark, into this offense....do something the offense hasn't done this year....win. Use different plays other than run it up the middle everytime or throw deep when the receiver obviously can't catch it. Work harder on the QB's. Granted, the dual system doesn't work that well anyway, but get the passes closer than 10 yards from the target, teach better route running, get better communication...not since the days of General Neyland has the offense done anything other than nothing. There have been the games where it has shined but since 1998, the offense has steadily declined. Being 108th out of 117 teams in total offense and consistently dropping in those ranks each year signaled it was time for change. Every team in the SEC knows how we play football. It is time for Tenn to change that and give out some surprises.

The offense is actually a very good system when used properly. Tennessee suffers in this system, because of their lack of commitment to using the tight end. A team to look at as an example of using this offense correctly is the Kansas City Chiefs. A power running game, that passes vertical on the sidelines and up and down the middle of the field.
What has happened at UT is a few things that have corresponded together to form a terrible negative effect in this season for the offense. The lack of fundamentals in the game. Fumbling and dropped balls are about accountibility and execution. The lack of commitment to power running football in the beginning of the season. The overextension in duties of Randy Sanders(OC and QB coach). The dual QB system. In the end, the OC is responsible for all of the offense. All phases of the offense have been poor this year. It is such a shame that an offense that could come together rotating freshman QB's and finish with the junior that nobody at UT wanted to start in the 2005 season would implode just a year later. While Sanders will serve as the scapegoat for this year, many players need to step up and take their part of the blame. There are few position coaches that should step as well. I've never seen a UT team make so many costly mistakes in the crunch time of drives and games.

The offense ran correctly when Cutcliffe was running it. The power running game was very effective under him. I agree that the players need to take some of the blame but with proper coaching, they should have been doing it correctly to start with. There is no excuse for the mistakes that have been coming up game after game in our offense. Foster should have never fumbled the ball Saturday night...that was basic fundamental ball protection that was blown. Overthrowing receivers is a basic fundamental that needs to be corrected. Ainge should have had much more than 65 yds passing and could have if he had hit targets. Receivers could have had more yardage if they would move forward after the catch instead of backtracking 5 yds. Running backwards after a catch is a major problem. Yes, there are corrections necessary on the player side of it, but proper coaching and getting in their face when they make the mistakes is a bigger part of it. Randy Sanders may have been overloaded in his duties but he still wasn't showing the proper way to handle the football from the QB side. That should be first and foremost on the offense. Too many bobbled snaps and not enough protection and scrambling will hurt every time. And yes, the TE...not being used enough this year. A few years ago, the TE was a leading receiver on the team. I don't see too many numbers on them this year. There are a lot of things we can find on this offense that are problematic, it all begins with the person in charge of the offense. I hope with this change in offensive staff we see some great things. I'm not holding my breath just yet.

Cutt will run the same offense more efficiently. He did wonders for you guys at Ole Miss, really turned around the team and made Eli one of the best SEC quarterbacks and seems to be ever improving in the NFL. Y'all had a contender team a year or two ago with Cutt but LSU and Auburn were just too much for the west. Sanders can't run this offense.

Nice call on Kansas City. It is Al Saunders offense and he is the OC of K.C. He installed his offense @ UT in the early 80's before giving way to Walt Harris. RTR

4. We have had only 3 Passing TD's against us all season, 2 of those against USC.
Defensively, this team is more than everyone expected, but offensively, we've imploded.
Your defense STILL allowed us to drive in the fourth quarter. That doesn't mean that I disagree with you, but I've visited TN chat rooms and everyone seems to be saying that TN is just soooo bad, that EVEN SC beat them. Seems to me, if you admit you've got a good defense, we should get some credit for being able to give Mitchell time to pass and actually being able to score. Also, we had a few key running plays that ended in important first downs. Prior to the game, alot of Vols were saying we wouldn't be able to score on your fantastic front DL. Again, I'm not disagreeing that your defense is good, but our offense must be pretty good to have moved the ball at all. But alas that won't happen as is evidenced by another thread where no one outside of Gamecocks predict us to beat Arkansas. Oh ye of little faith. :D

I think this was pretty bad timing. I mean, we pretty much expected as shake-up after the way things have gone this season, but I dont think that the week before you play against a vastly improved ND team that beat you last year is the time to do it. I will be pulling for UT probably more than most people on this board, but with all this going on I dont know how much I like the odds of UT taking out Notre Dame. It would be freakin awesome if they did though.

Mitchell has done some nice things at the QB position this year. This cements Spurrier's status as a developer of college QB's. The completion % is top of the league. Spurrier's gameplan found enough holes in the Vols defense to give your team a chance to win the game in the end. Your team stepped up in crunchtime and the Vols did not. Both teams made more mistakes in the game than they wanted. Congrats to the Gamecocks on the win, but most Vol fans are in a funk about losing three in a row and how we have played on the offensive side of the football, plus special teams for most of the season.
