I was watching espn and they said that after just seven games ND has given Weiss a contract through 2015. Here is a link if anyone is interested.

Whew.... wonder what the $$$ amount on that one was? :)
Shall we see a new dynasty starting for the Irish??

Notre Dame is crazy. Weiss is a great coach, no doubt. But come on, 10 years after 7 games? Too many things can happen in college football. If he comes up short next year, Touchdown Jesus may have to move to Columbia. He can't stand to watch mediocrity!

I don't know...I'm going to take a "wait-and-see" approach with Weis and the Irish. Most everyone is in agreement that he's a helluva X's & O's coach but he did inherit a lot of good and game-experienced talent at the skill positions and Notre Dame's name alone brings the big bodies in the trenches.
Don't forget, he had about as much time as Spurrier did to recruit and ND's class was nowhere to be seen in the rankings, mostly because he was coaching the Patriots in the Super Bowl. And their defense is ranked somewhere near 100 overall so they have their vulnerabilities. Mature & experienced players on offense is the reason they're the media darlings this year.
Once the leaders on that team (Brady Quinn, Darius Walker, Jeff Samardzja, Anthony Fasano, Maurice Stovall, etc) leave and he has to run those X's & O's with players he's recruited, we'll get a better feel of just how good a college coach he's going to be. There is a litany of great X's & O's coaches who can't recruit....and I think it remains to be seen whether Charlie Weis can recruit year-in and year-out to improve ND on defense and maintain the talent level on offense. ND's name recognition and that NBC contract keep them on a lot of recruits' televisions though so he has no excuses.
Jury's out in my book...word on the street up here is they've already got a lot of early commits but I don't know how good those guys are cuz a lot of them seem to hail from this area (midwest). Time will tell....
