*Newton accounted for 126 total offensive yards and three touchdowns in South Carolina's 35-28 win against Vanderbilt.

*He rushed for 80 yards on 15 carries and a TD, completed 3-of-4 passes for 46 yards and 2 TDs and also caught an 8-yard pass reception.

*Newton's two passing TDs came in the third quarter and brought the Gamecocks back from a 14-7 deficit to a 21-14 lead.

*His 10-yard rushing TD came in the 4th quarter and put the Gamecocks ahead, 28-14. On the play, he tore his Achilles' tendon and did not return to the game.

Wow, good game by Newton but I expected Irons to get that award. RTR

Irons had a great game rushing (mostly on one long run) and is very deserving, however, Syvelle did everthing "but operate the scoreboard". He got the running game going; he got the passing game going, he got a first down receiving.....

Without him (AND Sidney Rice, Mr. "glue hands"), we'd have lost the game.

I cannot debate Newton's performance as I was tailgating and our dish did not pick up the game. RTR
