Kenny Irons, who came off the bench to rush for 182 carries on 33 carries against Arkansas, was named Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Irons, a transfer from South Carolina, rushed for 126 yards on 23 carries in the second half. He has broken the 100-yard barrier in three of his last four games.

Lester missed: When redshirt freshman tailback Brad Lester, starting for the first time, went out with a strained groin in the first quarter against Arkansas, Auburn's pass protection took a hit.

The Razorbacks put heavy pressure on quarterback Brandon Cox in taking a 10-6 halftime lead. Irons said after the game that he missed some blocks in pass protection.
--------------------

Pass protection will be a major factor in the outcome this week. Not having B. Lester will hurt. I'm sure LSU is going to bring the house from the get go and try to get Cox out of his game. Auburn is without it's starting center Ross. The backup (Cope) is an undersized (6-0 276) walk on. He's been playing well so far this season but this week he goes up against monster NG Kyle Williams (6-2 295). This matchup could be trouble for AU. All together, Auburns offensive line and LSU's defensive line are some of the very best in the league. This should be a great battle.

This is likely going to come to a screeching halt Saturday night.
Kenny won't gain much in Death Valley.
Also, look for Cox to get manhandled.
Should be a great, slobberknocking game; typical of LSU/Auburn.

Cox definitely can't afford to make many mistakes in this one. I'm sure Borges has planned for tons of pressure. Just have to wait and see if they can execute it in that environment. I guess you heard that due to the lack of hotel rooms, they are flying in the same day just a few hours before the game.

No, I didn't hear that about the hotel rooms. I thought that had pretty much worked itself out. Most of the New Orleans people have either gone home (if they had one left) or moved into one of those FEMA trailer parks.

Speaking of Borges, he is definitely one of the very best. I would trade you Jimbo Fisher for Borges at the drop of a hat.

It sort of looks like Bo Pelini has gotten his act together and developed a pretty good defense, but some of Jimbo's calls on offense often have me wringing my hands; like calling a running play on 3rd and 28, etc.
