Simpson tallied a season-best 13 total tackles, including nine stops, with a fumble recovery and an interception, leading South Carolina to a 44-16 win against Kentucky.
Simpson returned a Wildcat fumble 19 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter to give the Gamecocks a 30-16 lead.
Simpson's interception came later in the fourth quarter and led to another South Carolina touchdown.
With USC ahead 17-16 in the third quarter, the Carolina defense held Kentucky to 25 plays and 82 yards in the Wildcats' final seven drives.
